30We were warned not to attempt the Fort Worth Zoo and the Dallas Zoo in the same day. Our schedule didn’t allow much wiggle room though, and it actually wasn’t too bad. We had heard that the Dallas Zoo was nothing to write home about. I’m happy to report that it was better than I thought it would be. But sad to say that it didn’t hold a candle to Fort Worth. I will say that they’re making plans and working hard to expand and grow and beautify the zoo. It should be a top-notch zoo in a couple years or so.
The girls enjoyed the monorail–a great, relaxing way to see a zoo! And the folks at DZ gave us lots of free carousel tickets, so the girls rode it over and over and over. And loved every minute of it. Besides Gabe getting stung on the tongue by a bee (true story), we had a great afternoon at the zoo!

Zoo #28. Thank you, mini-tripod!

Penguins are fun.

The carousel had a “nest.” Think Disney Tea Cup Ride.

Is there anything uglier than an albino crocodile? EDIT: Yes, there is. An albino alligator, which is what this fine animal actually is. My bad.

All kinds of happy.

We love to hear people identify this animal. (It’s an okapi.)

Melt me.

Coolest McDonald’s EVER.

Amy and me in a Blue Sea of Delight.

What a bunch of goofballs.

Better than sledding.
Taking a day off tomorrow. From Zoo Posts, not the blog. It’s GIVE-AWAY TIME again, friends! You’re going to like this one–fun, sassy, personalized! Happy Thursday! See you tomorrow!

How…HOW did your man get stung on the tongue? I can’t even imagine what that must have felt like. Awful! We went to the Dallas Zoo on Jackson’s first birthday. It’s a sweet memory. Here’s my post if you want to see all my incredible pictures. Tell Gabe not to feel intimidated by my mad photo skillz.

You’re all so pretty.
I thought you might find this interesting: http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,25409145-2,00.html
“Is there anything uglier than the albino croc?” I am thinking the okapi is giving it a run for it’s money on being the ugliest! enjoying all of your zoo pictures and posts! Put me on the waiting list for the book–cant wait for it to come out!
I just said an audible eww at work when I saw the albino crocodile. That is ugly…but very interesting.
I’m going to try not to take up my precious okapi’s offense and be hurt by Annie’s comment
and just say those Okapis are beautiful, awesome, amazing, and lovely creatures.
Great shots!!
I told you I was a Zoo Expert Impostor.
That would be an albino ALLIGATOR.
I love looking at the zoo pictures. Thanks for sharing!
Love the look on Livi’s face in that last one.
Eww to the crocodile, too. I’m pretty sure there are no albino crocs or spiders in heaven.
I think you need to head to Disney and go to the Safari there, doesn’t that kinda count as a zoo? (speaking from a disney freak!) the Okapi made me think of that, b/c they have Okapi there
Mavis–We did Animal Kingdom in December. LOVED it.
What beautiful pictures. Thanks so much for sharing your story!
On another note, please tell the girls we now have 2 dove eggs again:)
Blessings today and every day,
Kaye

Is that McDonald’s actually in the zoo or just nearby? Because I’m thinking on our next trip back to Texas, our girls will need to eat there!
can’t even look at that albino alligator…
LOVE the sliding down the stairs on mattresses
Ah, the okapi – isn’t it a cross between a giraffe and a zebra? My friend Lisa (she goes to church with us) says that god must have had a little too much wine they day he made an okapi!
Denise–nope, the okapi isn’t a cross between any two animals. It’s just an okapi. It’s the only other animal related to the giraffe but has nothing to do with zebras.
Awesome pics – looks like you are all having a ball. Wish I could come!
