This could go long. I’ll apologize in advance. First of all, I’ve just been moved to tears tonight by one of God’s blessings. One of many in the past couple days. I’m talking about the kind of blessings that just shout “GOD!” The kind that leave no room for doubt that He cares for me. ME. I’m humbled. And thrilled. And…speechless.
I experienced something beautiful this morning in the house of God. We had a baptism after the service (which are always so moving at our church). Then the pastor gave a call to anyone who felt the Spirit leading and wanted to get baptized on the spot. They came, and they came. We were singing praises, lifting hands, wiping tears, and I just thought, “Jesus, come! If this is heaven, I wanna go now!” Incredible.
One more blessing to share (I may share some of the other crazy-amazing ones later) before I move on to the “plan” I discussed on Friday. Gabe and I and the girls went to the hospital tonight to visit my friend Cami (the photographer) and her husband Dave and their brand new baby Nina (pronounced “Ny-na” after Cami’s grandma). Cami went in for a doctor’s appt, baby due in a little over three weeks, she was breech, couldn’t turn her, scheduled c-section for 2 weeks later, Cami went into labor right then and there, hospital next door, emergency c-section on the spot. Nina weighed 5 lbs 12 oz and is gorgeous. I held her for an hour tonight while we chatted. What a blessing.
Okay. Here’s the scoop. The sales on my first book, From Blushing Bride to Wedded Wife, have slowed down to where they can’t reprint it. Initially, this humbled me and made me sad. After prayer and thought, I’m greatly encouraged. The options for the future of the book are: 1.) Harvest House takes it to the Publishing Committee, and if they’re willing, they give it a new title, a new cover, and give it another whirl. 2.) They give the rights to me, and I see if another publisher wants to take a shot at it.
This excites me. From day one, I’ve strongly disliked the cover and wasn’t too fond of the title either (even though I thought of it myself). The editor I talked to told me they blew it. It’s a good book but just wasn’t packaged well. Who knows what the future holds in store?
So, here’s the deal. The publisher has over 2,000 copies of the book that they need to get rid of in the next month. I can buy as many as I want at cost (under $2 apiece with shipping). The rest will go to the “Bargain Bonanza.” I would love to buy every last copy. I have 8 speaking engagements lined up already from Sept-May, and I can take the books and sell them. I just don’t have $3000 to buy all those books. I can buy a few hundred, but that’s about it.
The first thing I’d love to hear from you is your idea for a new title and fresh look for the cover. If we do repackage/reprint this using your idea, well, you’ll be rewarded handsomely.
And secondly, if you’d like to help me out by placing a bulk order for some books (at cost–somewhere between $1-$2), I would loooooooove to send them to you rather than handing them over to the bargain bonanza. If you like the book, this is a one-time chance to get as many as you can. It won’t be available again. If it does get re-done, it will cost $10-12 per book.
You could buy them for:
–to donate to local/church libraries
–give/sell to wedding coordinators/pastors
–outreach to co-workers and neighbors
–to sell as a side business (teehee)
–to hang onto to give away as the Spirit leads
I get e-mails every week from women who have been blessed by the 2 books. And I’ve gotten 3 in the past 3 days about Blushing alone (one moved me to tears). So I’m confident God still wants to use it, and I trust Him with it completely.
On Monday or Tuesday, I’ll post prices for buying them in bulk and instructions for payment and shipping. If you’re interested, go ahead and message me (or comment). I’m already so thankful for your support–and I haven’t even pressed “save changes” yet.
Love you guys!
