hoodies!! (super-duper september)

I blogged about Jackie and her hoodies not too long ago, so I won’t repeat it all here. Except for the part about Jackie having a heart of gold and giving me 40% (!!) of hoodie proceeds for Cambodia. Oh, and you really need to know how SOFT and PRETTY the hoodies are. Ask the ladies at the retreat I spoke at this weekend. They loved ’em!!

Now, let’s meet my dear friend, Jackie!

Me: Welcome, Jackie! Tell us how Dress Blessed got started.

Jackie: Dress Blessed is the convergence of two things: First, a message God was pressing on my heart (relentlessly I might add) for several years and that message was simply “blessed”.  It had been a really tough season for our family. Even so, over and over when I heard the word blessed, I just stopped in my tracks. “Me, too,” or  “So much to be thankful for” always came to mind.

And then one day while walking in Chicago, I saw a horrifying t-shirt and said “Lord, that should NOT be allowed”. Response, “you can’t stop that darkness but you can put out something different – a message of hope & light”. Good idea, I thought. Someone should do that. Apparently He meant me.  In 2009, Dress Blessed, Threads for the Thankful, was born.

Me: What’s the most rewarding thing about owning your own business?

Jackie: Generally speaking, it allows me to seek God’s will and then do things that completely defy corporate logic. Can you say abundantly more than you can ask or imagine?

Specifically with DB, the most rewarding aspect is connecting with women who have their own “blessed” story. We share, laugh, pray and encourage. Not at all like work!

Me: How about the most challenging thing about being a CEO?

Remembering to rely on God EVERY DAY. Embarrassed to admit, sometimes I just run ahead with my ideas and plans, leaning on my own strength and experience. Silly girl! (Also, I wish I had someone else to write stuff like this for me!)

Me: Any dreams/goals for the future?

Jackie: Yes! A blessed revolution…spreading gratitude, hope and encouragement one shirt or hoodie at a time!

Bless others through the message and fruits of Dress Blessed.

Trust and obey God’s leading for Dress Blessed. I know He has bigger and better plans!

Me: Thanks so much, friend!! I love what God is doing in and through you!

Give-away drumroll…

Jackie is giving away a HOODIE of YOUR CHOICE!! (any size or color!)

The grey is my fave (I would wear grey 100% of the time if I had enough of it.), but I love my turquoise one too. And my girls LOVE the lime (it’s a lot more lime than the picture), and the purple is also really pretty. YOU CAN’T LOSE, PEOPLE.

She also has entire line of really cool t-shirts. Check ’em out!!

I would love a grey one to keep me or my wife (she loves to “borrow” my clothes) warm we have had 3 storms with 100 mph+ winds in the last 2 weeks 🙁

trying to navigate Super Duper September. I’m joining late, but man Miss Marla… you are awesome. This feels like “Marla’s Favorite things” like Oprah! You rock. I love your knowledge and the connections you have. I think my Christmas list will come from here for those family members who are shopping still 🙂

  3. Jordan

I’m always drawn to purple, but I’m not sure… my little sis would probably like this (shhh, don’t tell) so if I won I’d probably let her choose 🙂

I’ve barely had time to breathe lately…let alone enter all the fab give aways you’ve had. BUT THIS ONE–I had to stop for. I’ve loved these hoodies ever since I saw them eons ago. 🙂
I would have a really, really tought time choosing between the purple and the green. If I win and I HAD to pick…I would pick purple….or green….or purple…probably purple. I think. 🙂

It’s really cool that what you do doesn’t seem like work a lot of the time. That’s the best kind of work there is! Also, your story has some similarity to mine-but you have to wait until next week to hear about it 🙂

I’d be happy with gray or lime or turquoise.

I think I would pick gray as well. Too bad she doesn’t sell maternity sweatshirts. Oh well, I’ll just leave it unzipped…

I would have to choose probably the teal as it is my favorite color even though it has pink on it which is so not my color! I would overlook that and wear it anyway because these are great sweatshirts! I so want one!!! I would maybe take lime green too! So hard to decide!
