Life has been… challenging lately. And I know by now that, when we’re in survival mode, there are certain things that have to go. Blogging for one.
Here’s what I’m clinging to today:
“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes me feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.” Habakkuk 3:17-19.
By all counts, I should be exhausted. But I’m not. A little weary, yes, but finding rest in him. Taking, choosing, making, embracing JOY in my God today. You too?
I want to share a couple ways we can all show some Real. Hard. (or maybe even Easy.) Love. today to some sweet, hard-working people who need some rest.
First of all, our friends in Cambodia who work at Punlok Thmey (the Boys’ Center). These dear, sweet people work so, so, so hard to fight poverty and trafficking and all forms of evil in their country. Every. Single. Day. It’s exhausting, but they do it without complaining. And they do it very well. And they do it for very little money.
The Americans on staff would like to treat the Cambodian staff to a 3-day retreat. A time where they can get away, enjoy God’s creation, spend time relaxing, talking, eating, laughing, and have some precious time with Jesus.
Transportation, lodging, and food for 20+ people for 3 days = $3500.
If you’d like to donate even just $5, click here. (in the memo, write “Retreat”)
Second, my sweet friend Melissa founded an organization called Beautiful Feet Global Outreach that sponsors orphans (among other things) in Zimbabwe. Funds are low, times are hard, and these beautiful kiddos could use some financial help and encouragement.
Melissa wrote about the need today on her blog. Even the tiniest bit you can give will refresh and encourage her and the people she loves and serves.
The girls and I are doing what we can from here. If you’re in need of some handmade cards or prayer bracelets or S-C-R-A-B-B-L-E magnets, let us know. All proceeds will go to Cambodia and Zimbabwe.
I’m also selling these never-been-worn items from Noonday Collection. I got them free for hosting a trunk show last fall and decided I’d rather “re-sell” them and bless some sweet people than keep them for myself.
Thanks for your big hearts, friends! xoxoxoxo
