what i envisioned…

…was a nice, coherent, theme-ish blog post that edified and encouraged (and justified my personal day).

Yeah, well, sorry.

So, a baby boy Asian elephant was born at the Columbus Zoo Friday afternoon. How’d you like to give birth to a 303-pound baby after being pregnant for 655 days? (22 months’ worth of gestating) Maybe my next book should be Expecting for Elephants. I was just chatting with a gal at the zoo via e-mail on Friday morning, and she said they expected Mama to give birth (very) early Saturday or Sunday morning. Apparently, elephants are normally born at night. The guy in charge of keeping watch ran home to take a shower that afternoon and completely missed the birth. Poor dude. The elephant calf will be off-exhibit for a bit–can’t wait to meet him!

I’ve been having these weird stomach pains/heartburn/chest pains. I don’t really know what it is, but it’s not all that fun.

GREAT NEWS on the Taxes Front. We owe waaaay less than I feared. I must have asked God 50 times this weekend to help my unbelief, to help me trust Him, to allow us not to have to choose between Taxes and Texas. PRAISE THE LORD! I can’t tell you how ecstatic I am.

Ouch. My stomach/side/back/chest.

A reporter from the Tulsa World (daily newspaper) is going to meet us at the Tulsa Zoo with a photographer and do a story on us. HOW COOL IS THAT?! I’m going to contact some other newspapers and see if any of them will bite. If any of you locals joining us at the zoos want to alert your favorite news station, maybe this could be your fifteen minutes of fame.

Gabe had a coupon for 1000 free business cards, so he designed some sweet little 2 x 2 cards for 52 Zoos. LOVE them. Can’t wait to hand them out!

Notice the cute little Sunny Day Tags button on my sidebar. Kori (who eats Daddy Long Legs and insists they taste like peppermint) is a sweet gal and so crafty! Speaking of business cards, she designs Mommy Calling Cards, personalized luggage tags, and all kinds of cute stuff. She’s going to be giving away something fun in the next couple weeks on my blog, so stay tuned!

There are two more advertising slots now, if you’re interested. $10/month for 1, 2, or 3 months. E-mail me.

Please keep praying for my Grandma and the people who are making loving and difficult decisions for her. I got to see her two more times this weekend–very special. I also got to see my 4-month-old niece, Isabelle! (and her parents) This weekend we’re all getting together (well, minus Daniel, Stephi, and Gabe–boo!) In May sometime, we’ll ALL be together for a tiny bit.

Gabe had a great time in Seattle. He spoke at a Bible Tech conference about Digital Disciples. He brought back lots of great stories about how God orchestrated some pretty cool connections. We missed him, and we’re glad he’s home.

And I’m out of steam. Have a great Tuesday! The last day of March? Really??

I’ve emailed the Tyler news station in hopes they’ll want to do a story while you are there!

As soon as you described your pain/discomfort, I thought gallbladder, too! My pain wasn’t so much just on one side, but often between my shoulderblades. Megan’s spot-on about getting it checked out…

My friend, if that pain is on the right side, you may very well have a bad gallbladder. Get that checked pronto!

Very cool about the elephant, and am I the only one that noticed the irony of Texas and Taxes! Too funny and so happy that your prayers were answered!

Oh yay…I was wondering if the baby elephant had been born yet. When we were there 2 weeks ago they had just taken mama off exhibit and said she would have the baby any day.
