I wasn’t even tired when I got home last night. Just floating on a little cloud. I woke up this morning still on it, but it didn’t take long to start slipping off. I held on by my fingertips for awhile there but then just let go. And crashed a little. Nothing major. Just a moody outburst or two five. I think we’re good now.
My fingers are all wrinkly from doing dishes. Ugh. I hate that feeling. I know, I should wear gloves. But I don’t like that either. I’ll just wait for a new dishwasher. 🙂
So, Nina and I were checking out our books at the library today, and the girl at the desk was so sweet. Chatting with Nina about her books and stuff. I had a question about my account and she’d already printed my receipt, so she asked me for my name. When I told her, she looked at me funny and said, “My last name is Glaviano.” Um, deja vu, anyone? “Really?” I said (like she was lying or something). “Does one of your relatives happen to work at Half Price Books?” “Yes, my husband!” What do you know? Her first name starts with M too. In fact, M-a-r-. Next time I see her I’m going to ask her to get a xanga account–mglaviano. No, not really. But I think I’ll give her a copy of Blushing.
We were sitting at supper tonight when a little bug flew right up into my face. I swatted at him, then he disappeared. Reminded me of the Brian Regan clip where he walks into a spider web and no one sees the web, just him flailing around.
“I think he bit me under my eye!” I say to my family. They just stare at me. Sure enough, five minutes later, there’s a little welt under my left eye. Now, here’s the weird thing. I got bit under my right eye this past weekend. I’m wondering if bugs like my BeautiControl under-eye concealer. Or maybe it’s getting so old that it’s fermented and attracting insects. Because I’ve used it for over TWO YEARS now, and it’s still going. Like the woman in the OT who never ran out of oil.
Okay, I just ran up to the bathroom to see how much my tiny tube of concealer holds–just 1/4 of an ounce! And I’ve been using it every day since September 2006! And there was a little mosquito right by the vanity mirror! I think he wanted my concealer! (I smushed him. Don’t tell PETA.)
We’re leaving at 2:00 p.m. for North Carolina. It’s a 6-7 hour trip. Should be fun. The forecast says rain for Friday in Asheboro. If it does rain, it’ll be our first bad weather in 12 zoos. It’s fine with me. We’re flexible. And it will be fun to see how the animals react to the rain.
My lips are chapped, and my lip stuff isn’t helping. Anyone have a favorite chapstick/tube/tub that works really well?
I’m working on a little writing assignment tonight. An old college buddy of mine got me a side job writing 400-word blurbs about various U.S. cities, convincing people they should live there. Working on Houston. If you live there, and there’s something you think I should definitely include, let me know.
Today is National Day of Remembrance for pregnancy and infant loss. Over on Angie’s blog, you can leave a comment if you’ve ever lost a baby–even a really early miscarriage like me. She wants to pray for you. She has 1497 comments so far. She’s going to be busy. You can leave a comment here too if you’d like, and I’ll pray for you.
Speaking of babies, I was looking over my prayer list the other day for people who were trying to get pregnant. I think over half of them are pregnant now. Wow. Praise you, Lord!
This is a LOT of random. I should go pack or something. Have a THRILLING Thursday!! See you all on Monday!
