poppyseeds

If I were crafty and had an Etsy store, I’d want to call it Poppyseeds (probably already taken). Or maybe I could start a band–The Poppyseeds (probably not already taken). My best bet is probably a book–Poppyseeds (not taken–I checked).

I just think it’s a happy word. Poppyseeds.

And since I had Elizabeth’s Poppyseed Chicken for supper last night (that, unfortunately, I had to make myself because Elizabeth lives too far away for me to pop in for supper) and another Everything Bagel for breakfast (along with a piece of cinnamon-sugar toast–which is odd, because I normally skip breakfast)…where was I even going with this year-long sentence? Oh! Since all of that, I have poppyseeds on the brain.

In other words, I’m in a blogging funk and can’t think of anything to write about.

Which I should probably take as a cue to say nothing at all.

I did want to give a heads-up for a Fun Book Give-Away tomorrow.

And wish everyone a Happy Tuesday!

And now I’m curious. If you were in a band, what would it be called? (besides The Poppyseeds)

Um can I just be a groupie? :)

  2. Holly V. says:

No I’m all hungry……and I was doing so good tonight about staying out of the kitchen! Ha!!

I have no original band names….so I asked my fabulous hubby. Without hesitation, he said he would call his band “Wang, Dang, Doodle!” ??????

  3. Amy says:

I want the poppyseed chicken recipe! Forget about the band!! :)

  4. Kimberly says:

    Oh dear…the kampers? I don’t know!

  5. There was a band at my college called Tumble Dry Low. They are now defunct and if the name wasn’t taken I would use it because I think of it EVERY time I do laundry.

Free marketing. That’s what I’m all about. :-) That and it’s pretty descriptive of how I spend my days – laundry.

Perhaps I would even write bitter pop rock angst music about laundry and dishes. Think Kelly Clarkson meets the Fly Lady.

    A hit maker. I am.

  6. Band Name :
” RED CORD” – the lead guitar player chord would be = Red…( smile ) because it would be a band of FAITH…like the obedience of dropping the chord to let the spies out….and the band would be sold out to obedience and faith to and of GOD…. I got this when I taught at Temple…lol

Mine would be The Incredible Shrinking Moms. It’s similar to my screen name on a ‘mom’ site. I chose the name after hearing my sis-in-law say, “Nadine, you’re just the incredible shrinking woman these days!” I was on a rapid downward spiral of losing my previous baby weight…before I became pregnant again, heheee. And just for fun, we’d all be pregnant while on tour! :D

Just don’t eat poppyseeds if you are up for a drug test; who would believe “Oh, sorry, I just had a poppyseed muffin for breakfast”?……

  9. joyce says:

I hopped over to Elizabeths but I don’t see the recipe…do you know if it’s posted somewhere? I love anything poppyseed.

Sadly I’m tone deaf so the likelihood of me being in a band is very very low.

  10. Brownie says:

Love poppyseed dressing and poppyseed muffins. I agree that it is a happy word.
As for the band I am sure all of these are taken but possibly The Oldies-but-Goodies, The Sunsetters, or The Condo Crowd. Clues you in to the average age?
    Love your blog.

    Old Trunk

And I would clearly be the band manager, not a performer.

  12. Ali says:

I would never be in a band because that would be just wrong.

  13. Elizabeth says:

Some friends and I started a band when we were kids and we came up with a really great name. Of course, I can’t remember it these days. I’m sure it was very punk and cool, though!

Your blogging funk doesn’t seem like much of a funk to me:)

Can you imagine not being able to have poppyseeds in your house like Whimzie? I would cry! My husband can get random drug tested at any time too, but I refuse to worry about it.

  14. whimzie says:

I love poppy seeds but since I married a military man, I avoid poppy seeds when I cook because they can cause positive drug results and he can be randomly drug tested at any time. We fear the poppy seed in this home which I think is a little sad.

Band name? Wow. I need to think about that. Maybe Whimzie and the Sprockets? Of course there already is a Toad the Wet Sprocket. Hmm.. Something to think about today.

  15. Crissy says:

I love the word poppyseed too! I agree a very happy word. I also think the word ‘kumquat’ is a fun word! (Very tasty too!) I was in a worship band and we called ourselves “Toni’s Garage Band” because we practiced in a garage at a golf course. (Our lead worked there and his bosses name was Toni.)

However, I think that if I picked I would be a solo act! (such a diva) I would just be Crissy or maybe pronounce it “Criss-ay”! lol Although I have been called CrisB, or Crispy, but that is just weird!

    Anyway, love you bunches!

  16. Bethany says:

It’s funny that you came up with an Etsy name because I was browsing Etsy last night and trying to think what I would call my store if I started selling things on it!

I just checked and unfortunately there are many poppyseed seller names on Etsy already: poppyseeddesign, poppyseedshop, poppyseedvintage, poppyseedcreations…

I was thinking my name would have the word cupcake, cozy, or lollipop in the name. ;)

If I was in a band, I would like it to be called The Rubies! But I believe that’s already taken (The Rubyz–Christian tween pop band). It’s after the Proverbs 31 woman, “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.” Maybe they’ll just let me join. :)

  17. Denise says:

If I were in a band it would be called the – um – hmmm – not sure….maybe the Bubble Wraps! Yah! Love that!

P.S. I love poppyseed dressing and muffins with poppyseeds in them. MMMMMM!
