odds and ends

Just dropped Ava off at school for her kindergarten assessment. Nina is talking to herself in her crib. Have to pick Ava up at 2:45. Nina will probably fall asleep at 2:30.

Great weekend. My friend Tammy got married on Saturday. She was so beautiful. It was fun to reconnect with some people from high school. I tend to avoid that sort of thing (long story) but it’s not all about me, is it? Saturday was a HUGE day for Tams, and I’m so glad I was able to go. Livi and Ava went with me.

We went to the zoo on Sunday. After church and a nap. It was hot.

Went to Gabe’s grandpa’s house for a cook-out yesterday. Lots of little people–including a 6-day-old. Sooo cute, that little Brady. The kids (nine of them, six and under) think it’s fun to play with plastic cups in the gravel driveway. They sit there forever and fill up the cups with their hands and pour the contents all over themselves. They were grey from head to toe when it was all said and done. Jamie popped by for a surprise visit, and Erik and Eden fit right in. They loved the gator rides. Fun day.

Our first soccer game is tonight. I’m determined to enjoy each one and not say things like, “One down, nineteen to go.” Keeping track of Nina while watching a soccer game = impossible. I’ll do my best.

I think I mentioned that I’ve been trying to enjoy life and my family in the midst of all this stressful writing/school starting/soccer stuff. It’s working. Except that my deadlines are looming and I don’t have a whole lot of writing to show for it. I’m considering begging for extensions.

Please pray for my sister Bethany and her husband Stew this week. Stew’s getting a CT scan and colonoscopy. He’s been soooo sick lately. Pray that the doctors find a real problem with a do-able solution, so that Stew can get back to normal for the first time in a looooong time. Thank you!

I haven’t gotten the books from Harvest House yet. I’ll mail them out as soon as they come.

Have a great day!

My little nephew is playing soccer this year. I’m so excited to go to a couple of his games. A couple games = fun. 20 games = a little much for one season! Good luck!

You sound positively perky for a person with pressing deadlines. <That sentence would sound terrible in a microphone! Too many “p’s.”

    Praying for Stew and Bethany.

Thanks for the link to my site Marsy! I love you!

And to answer Kristin’s question^^^^: The Maker’s Diet lasted 3 weeks for us. It’s very difficult to stay consistent with–I was constantly in the kitchen and the special sauces, condiments etc. (everything has added sugar!) were so expensive! And Stew was so bad off, that he didn’t notice any difference so we decided to quit. It has a lot of good principles, but you really need to be committed. You have to prepare everything and it can get pricey. If you have any other questions about it, I can try to answer them for you!

i know.  i’m not.  my family is.

it’s always strange to be thrown back into a H.S. situation.  I come away from such things with all kinds of weird, mixed, nostalgic, happy, sad feelings.

the cups & rocks on the driveway story is awesome.  i love the minds of kids.

LOVE the family picture at the top and your new profile pic. LOVE them!

How did that Makers Diet ever work out for Stew and Bethany? Are they still on it? I know someone considering it…any advice good or bad would be MUCH appreicated

I have missed you my friend

I too have been itching all day. I found more mosquitoe bites than I thought I got!!! YIKES! The boys had a blast and Eden found a caterpiller last night before bedtime and kept it in his bug cage. This morning he asked if he could go to “grandpa’s” and show all the kids what he found. You know, like you guys are there all the time or something! 🙂

Will you message me some of the soccer games? I’d love to pop by one or two! Any chance they’re near the rec center?

Sierra’s favorite thing is pouring. Give her a couple cups and some water, and she’s good to go.
