grace for the weary?

Hiya, friends. I’m asking for a little grace today. I know I promised part 2 of the Mysterious Opposite Sex, but I’m beat. Will Monday work? It will. Awesome.

If you missed Part 1, here you go. And just so you know, there’s a $10 gift card at stake (scroll to the end of the post–you have until Monday to enter).

Just got home from speaking to a local MOPS group (Thursday night). Great bunch of gals. I loved getting to chat with so many of them after my talk. Thanks, WCC girls! You were great!

Speaking at a MOPS retreat Saturday in Mentor, OH. Three talks in four days isn’t typical for me (thank goodness), and it’s kicking my tail just a bit. I’m tired and achy and starting to cough. Hopefully Friday will be a nice, restful day with no calamities or catastrophes.

Spent a delightful few hours today with my friend, Ali. Love her. And her gorgeous little munchkins too. Everyone should have an Ali in her life.

While I was speaking tonight, Gabe took the girls trick-or-treating at a Nursing/Rehabilitation Center near our house. Then they came home, ate candy, wrestled with Daddy and were sound asleep in bed when I got home. Awesome.

Right now (10:57 pm Thursday night) I’m fixin’ to go upstairs and lounge on my bed with a Nancy Drew Mystery (I’m not even kidding) and a couple hunks of cheese (Swiss and extra sharp Cheddar).

I’m feeling really blessed.

So, tell me. Do you like cheese? What’s your favorite kind?

Have a great weekend!

    You are so funny!
My favorite snack is sliced apple with cheddar cheese.

  2. Ali says:

Wow, I didn’t expect to feel all this love when I clicked on your post. But, wow. Thank you.

And had I known, I would have shredded a lot more cheese to pile on yesterday’s soup. Which is also today’s soup because I just ate some. With a heck-of-a-lot of cheese.

    Hey, Marla!

Thanks for your encouraging comments today on my blog! It helps so much to know I’m not alone! And BTW, I’m eating crackers and cheese as I type this! Cheddar. Very Strong. :)

  4. Amy says:

I love Ali, too! I also love cheese…any kind!

  5. Holly says:

The few times I have been with Ali have been a blast! Glad u got a boost spending time together!!

Fav cheese lately is pepper jack! So yummy on a sandwich! But if I am just snacking its mozzarella, havarti, or cheddar!

  6. Betsy says:

Cheddar, or Colby-Jack. When we were in Greece last year on business, found out that they put cheddar only on their pizzas. WONDERFUL!!!!

  7. deanna says:

Love, Love, Lurve me some cheese! ANY AND ALL KINDS OF CHEESE. It is my favorite food, and I’m not even kidding!

  8. Denise N. says:

I agree, everyone needs an Ali in their life!

i love cheese – oh my word…seriously, I can’t get enough of cheese. I am not sure I can pick a favorite as I like a lot! I believe my favorite would be a tie between Muenster, provolone and colby jack. But I love most kinds…except for super smell and hot (pepper jack = gross). I really love the gouda that CPK puts on their BBQ chicken pizza.

Wow, that was way more detailed than I had planned.

  9. Laura says:

MMMMM CHEEEEEEEEESE. I love cheese. The weirder/sharper/stinkier the better. Compte is my absolute favorite in the world (even though it is not sharp or stinky) but any French cheese will do. I was spoiled when I lived there in 1998. Now that french cheese isn’t in the budget, extra sharp cheddar is my fave. :)

  10. Stephanie your sister says:

    I love cheese.

For deli or chicken sandwiches, I love provolone. For burgers, it’s got to be cheddar or american. For just snacking, I love colby, colby jack, and pepper jack. YUM.

  11. Liz says:

    Mmmmmm…cheese.

My favorite would have to be parmesan.

    Or swiss.

Or that really good cinnamon apple cheddar I had last weekend.

    I can’t decide.

  12. joyce says:

one of my favorite foods…Brie, parmesan (the real kind!), Danish blue, Red Leicester (an English cheese similar to a sharp cheddar)…have a nice weekend!

  13. Jamie Nygaard says:

My favorite is any Danish cheese, but next to that would be Colby Jack. (I’m finally doing some catching up since I got my computer back–I haven’t read your blog in weeks!!! Miss you bunches!)

  14. Elizabeth says:

My new favorite cheese is the Havarti I picked up at Trader Joe’s last weekend (I finally went to one in STL!). A friend recommended it, and it was soooo yummy. Not so good with crackers though. I just ate it by itself as a bedtime snack.

I’ve been reading Ali’s blog, and I really like her!

You are speaking all over the country lately!

  15. Bethany says:

Ooh! A Nancy Drew mystery! I’d like to start reading those again! Which one are you reading?

  16. Bethany says:

If I’m eating it with crackers or apples–extra sharp cheddar. But for grilled cheese–muenster all the way! It melts like mozzarella, but has tons more flavor.

  17. Kimberly says:

Pretty boring, mostly American if its plain. Of course, there’s Mozerlla, Parmesian, and Provolone…Jack, Swiss…I don’t really know, obiously!

  18. Emily Kay says:

(Just the monzerella [am I even spelling that right??] marinated and stuff…not the cheddar.) :D

  19. Emily Kay says:

Mild cheddar for me. And monzerella! All seasoned and marinated like they do in fancy italian restaurants! YUM!
