Dec
11The time is 12:24 a.m. I am not tired. At all. I took a two-hour nap this afternoon. I’m three pages in to HP #7 and ready to be done with the fool thing so I can get on with my awesome life.
Anyway. I’ve been staring at my computer screen for at least four minutes, going from e-mail to google reader to twitter to facebook, hoping beyond hope that some brilliant idea will strike. Nope.
So, I start staring at my desk. And wondering why some of this stuff is even on it. And then thinking about the things I put there on purpose but that are a little odd. And then it hits me. No, not a flash of brilliance, but a mindless post for the last day before the weekend.
10 points to anyone who has one of these items on (not in) his/her desk.
20 points to anyone who has something on his/her desk even more obscure than any item I’ve listed.
And I have no idea what I mean by points. I’ve got, “Excellent, Miss Granger! 10 points to Gryffindor!” on the brain.

What’s on your desk? And hey–enjoy your weekend!

This reminds me of a homeschool support group meeting I led. I opened our session by emptying my purse, item by item. At the time, I had young children who made regular contributions to my stash of stuff. My purse must have weighed twenty pounds.
You would not believe the things in there! People were laughing so hard, the tears were rolling down their faces! It was the best ice-breaker I have ever had the privilege of using.
Hey, I want a replica of Green Gables! The only thing vaguely obscure on my desk is a small hourglass. I was gonna use it to limit my time on Facebook, but when I timed it, it only runs for 5 minutes and 10 seconds. Not nearly long enough
I thought maybe I’d have at least one… however… I didn’t even get points for my right elbow, because I had my LEFT elbow on the desk!
So…I’m going to stick with what I WISH I HAD ON MY DESK that you have on yours… I wish I had a PeiWei menu on mine and I was going there today for lunch & dinner!!!
Have you seen the scrabble t-shirt on threadless??
http://www.threadless.com/product/297/Well_This_Just_Really_Sucks
I thought of you!
Have a great day!
i understand why I have a baby bottle on my desk…but you?? no comprendo!
my most obscure…hmm…..i got nothin–the list of Survivor pics that Matt & two of our friends make each season….??
Jess–the baby bottles are part of a fundraiser for the Pregnancy Decision Health Center. You fill it with change and give it to them.
How about 2 onesies, a voters registration card, a cup of coffee, ornament hangers, and a random box for a candle i no longer have.
kinda embarassing!
Ew, a broken computer:( and much paperwork to tackle….not so fun, ever!
Then there is a sign a great friend gave me that reads, “Love you more”, ahhhhh makes it look much better:)
Blessings to all of you,
Kaye
Matthew 21:22
I’m wishing I had a replica of Green Gables on my desk. Do you remember where it was purchased?
Hey, my right elbow is on my desk, too! And a half-eaten package of peanut butter crackers. Unfortunately, my desk at work is much less interesting than my desk at home.
This was so funny! When I first started reading this post, I thought I would definately have similar items on my desk. ( my desk is the ONE messy spot in my house) But Nope. Not one single item. And I so wanted points.
The Green Gables replica is actually from Green Gables.
Well, Gabe’s grandma got it in Prince Edward Island from the Green Gables museum or whatever it is. I want to go!!
My elbow was the only thing I have on my desk that is the same as yours.
Other things on my desk include a stapler with no staples, a Slim Jim, a small metal Christmas tree, a stack of Christmas cards that need mailing, a half-colored coloring page, a can of Pringles, my make up bag, and tweezers.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
I have a MR. T bobblehead on mine!
You’re going to turn in to a giraffe!
I have a baby on my desk.
I’m sensing a giraffe theme… anyway, I’ve got an empty pint of snickers ice cream (thanks to hubby for that one), a lava lamp, harmonica, broken cell phone, bills waiting to be paid, a jar of icy hot (again, thanks to hubby), and miniature maracas from Curacao.
Let’s see………a beaker with artist’s paintbrushes in it, a juice glass with palette knives and pencils in it, two SARK books under a gooseneck lamp (to make it taller, a 3-in-one printer/copier/scanner, a paper cutter, a coaster, a bottle of hand sanitizer, and a pile of junk mail for the recycle bin…..plus my computer…..
ah ha! i ALSO have two baby bottles and my right elbow on my desk. And I have a wooden giraffe shaped napkin holder from Kenya BESIDE my desk. So similar. Only other interesting this on my desk is 20 christmas cards made by the precious kids in our orphanage in cambodia. be still my heart.
I, too, have a Hazelnut Cream candle on my desk…
I have a packet of Campbell’s Tomato seeds on my desk as well… I think I was planning to plant them last spring… that’s probably the most random thing on my desk at the moment.
-Nikon D700, Nikon D70s, LEGOS, empty glass of milk, 3 boxes of crayons, 3- R.E.M. CD’s, devotional, 2 pencil sharpeners, McDonald’s Monopoly piece., and an mound of papers.
I’ve got Aquaphor too! Same size tube and everything. Also a napkin ring and a bear that sings “happy birthday” over and over so many times that I put it on my desk to get it away from the kids. Also TONS of paper, computer games, catalogs, Christmas cards, and more paper.
Hi,
I read your article on marriage on CBN website and found it pretty interesting! I have been reading up all your blogs since then.. (that’d be from yesterday!
) It was so much fun and did encourage me to be a better wife and mom and to lean more on God and to spend more time with Him! Thank you!
I haven’t read any of your books yet, but planning to do that soon..
Keep writing! God bless!
In Christ,
Swapna
I don’t have any of those… but I think I have the most obscure/ odd item… a bottle of Hartz Rid Worm liguid… was used for our litter of puppies and kept on my desk to remind me to give it to them… they all have new homes so I guess it is safe to toss the bottle… although it does look good sitting next to the broken Lightening McQueen flashlight lantern!!
I adore you.
Blank CDs, a cross, Christmas cards from this year and last year, gloves, dog figurine and Sea World coupons.
Blog field trip to Green Gables! Who’s in?
Let’s see. I have stacks of papers, Vaseline lip therapy, my glasses (I’ve been wondering where those were!) An almost empty bag of marshmallows, a fingering chart for ukulele chords (?!), a list of things I’m supposed to put on the calendar that are now in the past (oops! missed a few!), and a picture of Spiderman’s head. No wonder I can’t get any work done here.
hmmm…I have a stack of about 30 CD’s that I’ve been meaning to copy onto my iTunes library, an I Love My Grandpa cup with about a kazillion pens in it, a picture of me and my sweetie, a picture of Jesus to remind me he’s always with me, 2 Santa Clauses (my wife’s idea to add a little Christmas cheer to my office) a stack of papers that ends up being my “get to it one of these days” piles – which I haven’t got to in awhile, tickets to the Jan.16 OSU basketball game plus my work laptop, my home monitor, keyboard, printer, phone, etc.
I have snacks (hershey kisses, crackers and keebler cookies), recycled art, an owl head, air fresheners and junk mail on my desk. Oh, and like 300 CDs waiting to be imported into itunes. Haha.
