radical read-along! come one, come all!

Okay, so you know I’ve been reading the book Radical by David Platt. It rocked my world on my first read-through and has been just as rockin’ the 2nd time around. And I’m all about reading it one more time. WITH ALL OF YOU!

I know my friend Megan is in, because the Radical Read-Along was her brilliant idea. And I know my friend Elizabeth is in, because she said so. And I know my friend Ali is in, because I just told all of you she was (and she just bought the book and loves me a lot).

How about YOU? Are you IN??

Seriously, friends, I’ll never be the same after reading this book. I wish I could buy all of you a copy, because I know money is tight for many of you, but I PROMISE you it will be worth the $9.87 you invest in it.

And if you click on this link to buy it, your purchase will go through my Amazon Associates Account, and 4% ( or something like that) of your purchase will go to me, which I’ll put directly in our Coins for Cambodia Fund.

I’ll admit right up front that organizing something like this isn’t one of my strong suits, but I’m so convinced that God can and will do BIG things through us if we all join forces with him that I’m willing to give it all I’ve got.

I just need some feedback from you. Please answer one or more of these questions when you get the chance.

1. Would you be interested in reading the book with us?

2. There are 9 chapters. Should we read a chapter a week for 9 weeks?

3. I’m thinking of Tuesdays for our weekly discussion. Radical Tuesdays? Whaddya say?

4. Start the first Tuesday in September? Or maybe August 24 (around when kiddos go back to school)? (I want people to have time to get the book.)

5. I’ll ask Gabe sweetly to help me with some sort of Mr. Linky thing, so y’all can link to your own posts each week. How does that sound?

6. What else do I need to know?

I’m super-excited about this, friends! Super. Excited. Seriously. SO. EXCITED.

Hey, Marla! Here as promised. This sounds fantastic! I don’t think I’ll be able to write a post each week, as it might be overkill for my peeps given how much I’ve mentioned Radical already on my blog and my new Friday focus, but I definitely plan to chime in to discuss the book here on your blog and FB. I can’t wait to read through it again with a group. I know I’ll learn so many new things that I missed the first time through. Can’t wait until Tuesday!

I’d love to join in. Tuesdays aren’t the best for me but I can probably work something our. One chapter a week sounds good to me.

Just found you through Megan @ Sorta Crunchy and am so excited to do this read along with you and everyone else here. I am about halfway through the book and would love to be able to process it with others that are on a similar journey! Thanks for hosting this, I am in!

Sounds like a very challenging book. Count me in! September sounds like a great time to start. Looking forward to this!

Sounds like a great book! I’m definitely in for the read – possibly in for the Tuesday nights. . .depends on our fall schedule which is up in the air right now. BUT enough people are reading it I’m sure there will be lots of discussion to be had! Thanks, Marla!

I am in and flexible as to when to start and days. I am going to see if I can get it at the library, that way I don’t have to spend money!

    YAY!!! A book club

I’m ordering this book asap after hearing about it from Megan! Can’t wait to devour this book with my husband and perhaps other women in my area! Expectant to see how God is going to challenge us!!

  15. suzanne

Sounds good. My husband, who is not saved, is always telling me I am being too radical, so I may as well come into agreement with him πŸ˜‰

i’m in!! i’m reading a chapt a week (starting this week) with a HS girl at Vista…so this will be great timing! love you!

  17. Elizabeth

How can I say no to that? Of course I’m in! I say let’s start in September (seems to be the consensus), but I am asking ahead of time for a little extra grace because, you know, I’m having a baby soon. And if my life is going to be anything like Kelly @ Love Well’s (have you read her post today?), I’m going to be hiding in closets and bathrooms to get time alone to read, let alone write a post.

    I’m excited about it!

I am a total lurker (is that still the right word to use or is there something more trendy?) on your blog, but perhaps I will have to come out of the shadows to do this! Haha.

I am all in. A chapter a week sounds great, Tuesdays are good, and starting in September sounds good too.

Thanks for putting this together, and for being so honest about your thoughts as you talk about Cambodia and your faith and everything! Looking forward to this. πŸ™‚

I’ve been wanting to read this book. What a perfect opportunity to read it and process it with friends?

I vote for September, because up here in The North, school doesn’t start until the day after Labor Day. (It’s a state law. No joke.) So September 7 is our first day this year. Anything before that would be difficult, with four kids at home right now. (I’m hiding in my office for a minute just to type this! HA!)

  20. Kelly

I’m in. Tuesdays are bad for me but I have no problem coming tardy to the party. But I will commit to read it along with you all!

  21. Courtney

i’ve been looking at getting this book…. now more incentive!!! I”m doing a bible study on Tuesdays so hopefully it will all work out!

I can’t believe this! Our sermon at church yesterday was on loving the poor. Then, unrelated to sermon, I needed some alone time and hung out at Borders and found and purchased Radical. I’d never heard of it before. Then last nite I just found Sorta Crunchy. And just this morning found you thru her. This all means I HAVE to read along. Do we have to wait until Sept?? πŸ™‚ Really, I completely get it. I’m for whatever you do. I myself am way behind on all the technology that goes along with stuff like this, but I’ll do my best to join in. Can’t wait.

  23. Ali

I’ve never been so excited about an online read-along!
I read Chapter 1 last night, and already, my world is ROCKED!

A chapter a week is VERY doable. And Tuesdays? Why not?!

Can’t wait, Marla. Love you, friend.

  24. Megan@SortaCrunchy

I am SUPER! SUPER! SUPER excited. Beyond words excited.

Thank you for starting this up. THANK YOU.

    Okay, so

    1. um YESSSSSSSSSS! (seriously, if i had the money I would buy a copy for every single believer i know. For real)

    2. Yes, sounds good.

    3. RADICAL TUESDAYS, I am FOR IT!

    4. Let’s start in Sept so people have time to get it. (and maybe read ahead if they think they might get bogged down in Sept)

    5. yes. Thank you, Gabe.

    6. These are all just my opinions (since you asked). Whatever set up you come up with, I AM SO THERE.

I hope you know the excessive capitalization usage here is only a mere shadow of how thankful I am for you for hostin this.
