Missy, one of my best friends from college, called me on Ava’s birthday last week. We hadn’t talked in a few months, and I could immediately tell that something was wrong. Six weeks ago she was in a horrible car accident and has been in a wheelchair ever since. The doctors expect her to heal completely, but she has a long road ahead of her. She has all kinds of crushed and broken bones in her pelvic area.
They told her that if the blow had been any higher or any lower, she wouldn’t be alive right now. Praise the Lord that He is in complete control–and makes it painfully obvious sometimes.
Missy has two little boys, ages 4 and 2. When she was pregnant with her younger son, she was hooked up to an IV for 20 hours a day for the majority of her pregnancy. People had to come help her almost around the clock. They’re doing the same for her now. Praise the Lord for her church family.
Missy’s mom died of cancer while Missy was on her honeymoon nine years ago. And the stuff that girl has gone through in the past nine years could fill a book. My heart just aches for her as she wants to be the one taking care of her little guys right now, and she can’t.
Her faith is an inspiration to me–to trust in my God with my whole heart and to knock off the grumbling and complaining for no good reason.
Pray that God will just hold her, comfort her, and bless her in some incredibly special way today. If you want to send her a note of encouragement, message me, and I’ll give you her address.
