so much for my plan

I went to bed at 11:00 last night and got up at 8:15! But, um, I read in bed until 11:40. Then I tossed and turned and couldn’t go to sleep (I usually fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow) until after 12:45. Then Nina was up screaming and screaming and screaming and teething from 2-3:30. After I tried every tactic known to man to help her, she finally cried herself to sleep.

The alarm went off at 6:30 which means Gabe goes running and I have my devotions. But since Gabe went to bed late and was up for 90 minutes in the middle of the night, he opted for getting up at 7:15 instead. Me too. Livi and Ava came in every 15 minutes from 7:15 until 8:15, asking, “When are you going to get up?”

So, “nine” hours of sleep actually translated into six-ish. Oh well. I’ll keep trying. Except that I’m used to writing late at night until I can’t keep my eyes open. Then I fall into bed and go right to sleep. I kept thinking of writing ideas from 11:40 until I finally fell asleep last night. Seems like a waste.

Our dryer is officially broken. The repairman is coming this afternoon sometime to take a look–at our dishwasher and garbage disposal as well. When it rains it pours. Too bad he doesn’t fix vacuums. And can’t get me a new contact prescription and glasses.

I got some fun book news today. Will share soon. I also have some pics to post. Tomorrow? I might even have something interesting (or funny) to say.

I hate sweating as soon as I step out of the shower. It’s going to be a loooooong summer. I need to remember that I love summer. Hot is better than cold. Hot is good. Hooray for summer!

Enjoy your Wednesday!

sleeping being interupted by those things justifies sleepin in a little and so, don’t beat yourself up for not achieveing your plan! it’ll happen…all things take time to change:)
are you sweating any worse than when you were a couselor at SH? at leat you probaby have air in your home, right? (or maybe not, i guess some people don’t ; i forget that b/c it’s anecessity here)

I hate sweating.  I hate cold.  I’m with whoever said Fall–70’s!  Mike turns the a/c on so that you could store meat in our house and I don’t like it that cold but I hate to sweat too, especially at night when I’m trying to sleep.  Can’t wait to hear about the book and see pictures!

It is officially winter here tomorrow 🙁

At least you tried the new plan, keep trying I say, your body will take a while to get into a new routine!!

did you know in China most people don’t own dryers in their homes! Even the really Americanized apartments don’t have them. It probably takes about a week for jeans to dry. Ugh!

I do all kinds of freelance- curriculum for high school business/marketing classes, grant writing, letter writing, fundraising brochures, feature writing, web site copy, and proofreading/editing too!

I agree that hot is way better than cold. I would pick hot over cold any day.

We are not sure if the girls are identical. They had seperate sacs and placentas so we thought fraternal. However, they look very much alike. They could be identical — we’ll have to do DNA tests if we want to find out for sure.

Good luck with the sleep, I have been trying to stay up a little later because I seem to take a nap before I go to bed at about 9:00… Last night I feel asleep at 7:30 slept until 10 and then got back up and went to bed at 11:00… Why does it have to be so complicated!

Sorry to hear about all the appliances in need of repair…I can relate. There never seems to be enough money in the budget to keep up sometimes. I hear you on the new contact prescription and glasses too. Someday I’ll have the time and the money to get it done!

I find that when I try to change my bedtime (I too am a better mommy with more sleep and need to start going to bed earlier!) it usually takes a few nights for my body to realize, yes, I really am going to bed now, so fall sleep and deal with it!

I am so with BE, I prefer cold to hot any day! You can always add more clothes, but you can only take so much off

You trying to get 9 hours of sleep was a valiant effort. Keep trying. I’m sure your body is so used to going to bed later that is had a hard time understanding that 11 is now bedtime.

I usually also sleep well, but last night was a toss-and-turner for me as well. I tried to shut my brain off, to just pray thanks for everything to God, but Satan DEFINITELY did not want me to sleep OR pray. Tough night.

I WOULD change my profile pic, but the pooter keeps saying they’re all too big(which I do NOT take as a compliment )! I’ll endeavor to persevere.

I so enjoy your comments and your faith….obvious even in your somplest comment. Thanks.

I’m with you on the sweating as soon as you get out of the shower…that stinks…literally 🙂

If you start getting good sleep, out of respect for us that have newborns, please don’t start blogging about your long glorious hours of wonderful rest!

    love you!

Marla…I’m with you…my brain won’t shut off at night either…I read or blog or photoshop way into the night and then collapse into bed…only to wake up for the bathroom every hour (I”m thinking it’ll be better once the baby quits jumping on my bladder!!!) Hang in there…can’t wait to read more about your book!

Looking forward to the fun book news! Once again, I know many people who would buy the in-law book. Maybe try going to bed at 11:30 initially, and then work your way to 11:00? Perhaps you could read in another room until 11:30? Sleep well!

Don’t give up! Your body will have to adjust to your new routine! (And so will your kids!) One day over the weekend, I didn’t get up until around 8 or 8:30, and Griffin thought I was sleeping in FOREVER! Around 7:30, he told his mom, he thought I was never going to get up. Luckily, I had her there to run interference for me, so he wasn’t allowed to come in.

hot is NOT better than cold in my world.  i’d take cold over hot any day.

sorry about the lack of sleep!  tossing and turning is awful!  but i commend you for trying!  hang in there… i’ll pray that your body adjusts soon!
