eddy tuesday

If only it were Saturday, then my post could be Swirly (even if I do completely overuse that word). I wanted twisty “T” words, but a thorough thesaurus search left me longing for something…swirlier. There’s always Twirly Tuesday, but can you believe “twirly” isn’t even a word? (It should be.)

And then I found “eddy” which obviously doesn’t start with “T,” but it goes with Tuesday in its own little Maundy Thursday kind of way.

Eddy: 1. a current at variance with the main current in a stream of liquid or gas, esp. one having a rotary or whirling motion. 2. a small whirlpool. 3. any similar current, as of air, dust, or fog. 4. a current or trend, as of opinion or events, running counter to the main current.

Now, this word would work nicely if I was planning on starting (or continuing) some sort of discussion that went against the cultural flow. But not today. Today my thoughts are merely swirly, as in all over the place. Not eddy as in going against the grain (drain).

Anywho. (Anyhoo?)

Are you picking up on the swirly?

Happy September, by the way! Can you believe it’s here already?

I completely forgot to mention yesterday that my dear friend Kristen drove 45 minutes from her home in MI to meet me at my hotel Friday evening. We spent the most glorious three hours together. It FLEW by. Kristen and I met a couple (three?) years ago online, and she showed up at my door one day looking for a place to sleep. Ha–just kidding. I invited her to stay with us on her way from MI to VA.

Kristen’s wrapped up in a beautiful God-story right now that she’ll be at liberty to share in a couple weeks. You aren’t going to want to miss this one. Chances are, you’ve already heard hints of it in Blogland. I was thrilled to play a tiny bit role in the whole thing and am jaw-dropped AWED at what God has done. Oh. My. Word. What an awesome God we serve! Un. Real.

Something very, very cool happened to me last night. I got an e-mail that made me jump up and down, praising Jesus. It’s just a preliminary thing, a first step, but God is so good. I’m hangin’ in, hangin’ on, and trusting Him with all I’ve got. Yes, it’s Zoo Book related. I can share when I know something tangible (and in the book world, this could be eons from now).

Let me leave you with a burning question: If I handed you 7 one-dollar bills right now and you had 30 minutes to get rid of them, what would you do with them?

I’d go to one of two local coffee shops for a good mixed coffee special and some sort of muffin or pastry… it would probably take close to the whole $7.

I think it would be enough to buy a certain book for a far-away friend. She’s in ministry and has no extra for such luxuries. Yet she has shared how much she’d like to read it. With only $7, I’d have to go couch-diving for the money to mail it to her though!

Loved seeign you too Marla. I ahd a beautiful time with you…very sweet indeed. And I am EAGERLY anticipating that date in Sept when all will be revealed! 😉 I can’t wait to see how God uses this story.

If I had seven $1.00 bills I’d give them to my son to put in his piggy bank. He gets SO SO excited to put “monies” in his bank!

My first thought is doing something a la “Parable of the Talents” style and use it to buy ingredients to make cookies or to buy fabric to make a tote bag to sell.

I would tell my 3 girls to each pick a friend and we would go to our favorite little candy store after school today and get a treat. They still have penny candy bins, it’s so fun.

  8. Lori Haskell

I’d buy chick fil e biscuits for everyone at the office…most of us are fighting some type of crud, one has a son with swine flu, one of mine’s home with the flu and we could all use a pick me up!!

Wow, definitely eddy/swirly/twirly post! 😉 My first thought when I read your question was I would give it to my kids. But to be even I would have to give each of them 3 dollars, and then the last would be used at McD’s for a large diet coke for me! I way over think these kind of questions!

  10. Kara

I’d split it evenly between my kiddos to add a little extra in their “I’m Going To Disney World Someday Fund” for working hard and putting up with me. : D

Honestly, I have no idea…. but I’m betting I’d get some kind of lunch while in Columbus today. Or maybe one of the really good drinks from the coffee shop on campus 🙂

  12. Anjanette

I would go to McDonalds and Get 3 ice coffees for coworkers and the an ice tea for the 4th. We would then all have a happy day at the library today!!!

  13. Colleen

McDonalds’ happy meal toys are American Girl toy thingys…I’d go buy 7 of them, cuz I think they are just a dollar each without the meal and then I’d hand them out to all the little girls at the bus stop this afternoon…

  14. Kelly the Cousin

I would buy something for breakfast since I’m starved, and a fall-ish beverage from Starbucks to celebrate that one of my favorite seasons is here!!! (I know, technically not for three weeks, but this is when I begin celebrating.)

But that’s only since you won’t let me save it to pay for parking at the stadium tonight. 🙂

  15. Holly

I would buy ingredients for dinner and have the Tavianos over! And yes, I bet I could feed all nine of us with seven dollars….

  16. Mary

Prob go get a treat a dairy queen for me and hubby. But if not that then maybe buy two or three greeting cards.
Or treat myself and a friend to starbucks.

  17. Emily Kay

Depends on if my hubby gets home in 30 minutes. 🙂 If so, I’d have him run to the Shell station to buy me a Gatorade (to re-hydrate from this nasty bug) and a Code Red Mountain Dew (for when I’m feeling better)! 🙂
