she sends her husband into brothels

Welcome to FREEDOM PARTY WEEK, friends! A little background info here.

(And if you can’t be bothered by clicking on links and stuff, basically it’s my birthday this week AND the 2-year anniversary of my husband not dying AND we’re going to have some fun and give stuff away for FIVE DAYS STRAIGHT.)

I want to kick things off by sharing a really cool organization called The Exodus Road. Started by my friend Laura Parker and her husband Matt, The Exodus Road is a network of surveillance teams and individuals working with local law enforcement to rescue victims of human trafficking in Southeast Asia and India.

lauraparkerUm, AWESOME.

I met Laura online a few years ago when she was living in Thailand and loved her immediately.

She has since moved with her beautiful family to Colorado where the day-to-day stuff of The Exodus Road takes place. But Matt and his teams spend lots of time on the ground in dangerous places in Asia.

They could both use our prayers.

Since July 2012, The Exodus Road has helped rescue 189 women and children caught in the web of human trafficking.

Thank you, Jesus.

Laura recently wrote a book (a wonderful, poignant, amazing book) about what it’s like to be married to a guy who regularly goes into brothels undercover to help rescue young girls. It’s a hard read but sooooooooooooo (sooooooooooooooooooo) good.

I really reeeeeeally really really really want all of you to read it. So I’m going to make you a deal.

If you buy a copy of The Exodus Road (Laura’s book) TODAY (previous ownership of the book doesn’t count), I’ll send you a FREE copy of another awesome book: Deepening the Soul for Justice. (I’m currently doing a read-along of DtSfJ on my blog, and it’s another good, good, good one.)

(And The Exodus Road is just $6.29 on Amazon right now. Two incredible books for $6.29?!? You would be INSANE to pass this up!)

OR if you donate $20 or more to the amazing work Laura and Matt (and everybody) are doing in Jesus’ name at The Exodus Road, I’ll send you a FREE copy of BOTH books.

AND just for leaving a comment on this post (no giving/buying required), you’ll be entered to win the following prize package (and I have 2!):

1 Exodus Road t-shirt + 1 Exodus Road leather bracelet + 1 copy of The Exodus Road + 1 copy of Deepening the Soul for Justice.

In summary:

1. Buy The Exodus Road, let me know, and I’ll send you Deepening the Soul for Justice.

2. Donate $20 to The Exodus Road, let me know, and I’ll send you both books.

3. Leave a comment to be one of two lucky winners of: t-shirt, bracelet, 2 books.

And we’ll see you back here tomorrow for Day #2 of FREEDOM PARTY WEEK!

p.s. Just making sure it’s clear: ANYONE can leave a comment to be entered to win. You don’t have to give or buy a thing!

What brave and inspirational people to commit to such tough (and necessary) work in the name of Jesus! Amen to their efforts and may his victory be theirs! I hope they can bring light to these terrible autrocities that happen all over the world! I will pray and pray for these horrible acts against women and children to be stopped! A fantastic cause!

I have heard their story before and in fact, was just relaying it to someone recently. So amazing (but, of course, so sad that kids are put in such a wrong situation). I think I read about it on one or two blogs not that long ago. Would love to read the book.

I would like to read this book. I want to learn more about this modern day slavery so I can pray more and not be oblivious to what is going on in our world today.

Thanks for introducing us to Laura and Exodus Road! I bought the Kindle copy of the book so I’ll be able to start reading it tonight. I’m excited to learn more about their ministry.

Such amazing work and a blessing to so many women trapped in horrible situations. My prayers are with your friends as they continue their selfless acts of kindness.

I just bought Laura’s book and read some of her blog. Thank you Marla for introducing us to such great people. There are many organizations…causes…injustices that I would never have understood if you didn’t do things like this.
I can’t wait to read the book!

Thank you, friend! Excited for you! I know you already have a copy of Deepening the Soul for Justice, but I can send you another copy to give to a friend or mail it directly to a friend for you. Let me know!

Marla, Is there someone you know that would be blessed to receive the book as a gift? If so, you can give the copy to them! I am just excited to read Laura’s book! I have been praying for you and your family tonight regarding your email. My lesson this week for my preschoolers in Sunday School was “God is Everywhere!!” We ran under a parachute (plastic tablecloth) and said God is with us in the dark as they ran under and God is with us when we come out. So I just declare over your family that God is everywhere in your house, in your health and in your wisdom to make decisions. Blessing to you!
