Friends. I am PUMPED about our next Read-Along. The book is short (44 pages), sweet, convicting, refreshing, and packs a PUNCH. I’ve read it three times now, and I keep going back for more.
Introducing: Deepening the Soul for Justice by Bethany Hoang. (Just $4.50 for the paperback and $2.43 on the Kindle.)
The very first sentence of the book sums it up: “Seeking justice doesn’t begin at the door of a brothel. Seeking justice begins with seeking the God of justice.”
Bethany is convinced (and so am I) that we have to be deeply rooted in God (through prayer and reading his Word) before we can do the hands-on work of seeking justice. If we dive right in without this foundation, burnout is inevitable, our passion unsustainable.
Oh, this is good, good stuff.
I know we’re all in a busy season (of the year, of our lives), but this is just FIVE pages of reading a week (10 minutes maybe?). And you can pop in and out of the discussion as often (or not) as you’d like.
If you have any desire to be used by God to bring hope to a hurting world, this book is for you.
And we’re going to have a lot of fun as we go too. Sharing ideas and stories, giving away books, doing an interview with Bethany (she’s a friend of a friend), and learning about opportunities to make a difference.
We’re in this together, friends. And I’m so thankful for you.
“All of the body of Christ is called to be the Spirit-filled community that surrounds, supports, inhabits, and propels the river of justice God is seeking to unleash.” (p.24)
We’ll meet here on Tuesdays, starting on September 10 with introductions (so you don’t need to have anything read) and going through November 5.
If you’d like to join us, simply leave a comment (on this post) saying, “I’m in!”
Let’s do this!!
