29Welcome, fellow members of The Big Mama Fan Club! Thanks for stopping by! That Melanie sure is something, isn’t she? (oh–if you’re actually here to see me and didn’t just hop over from Big Mama’s, click on over to her site for a minute, then mosey back this way!)
In case you’re wondering, Big Mama and I go way back. To last June where we just about nearly almost met in real life. I (nervously) traipsed on down to Charlotte, NC for a She Speaks Conference (not as scary as I thought it’d be), and a couple of the sessions were on All Things Blogging. Big Mama, BooMama and Shannon Rocks were our fearless speakers, and they did a super job. I got to hug Sophie and chat with her for 31 seconds (give or take 2), but I only admired Melanie and Shannon from afar (and said “hi, nice to meet you” from my seat during a slap-your-knee funny Q & A). But we e-mail, like, all the time now so, see? We’re tight. Mel and I even have the same pink hairdryer.
There are a million-and-one things to love about Big Mama. If you’re one of her faithful readers, you already know all this, but if somehow, you’ve been under a rock (or stranded in xanga-land!–teehee) for the past couple years, allow me to share. Big Mama is brilliant and funny. She’s gut-honest and humble. She loves Jesus, her hubby, her darling daughter, and her friends and family. She writes about things I can totally relate to. Well, except for Fashion Friday (I’m so fashion-illiterate), but somehow, she’s even got me hooked there. Well, and I don’t always get her Deep South references (Tex-Mex, chicken-fried elk, the Aggies, some kind of grocery store about Butts), but I’m learning.
I do understand little girls who are tomboyish princesses. I do understand Target. I do understand Easy Bake Ovens. I do understand “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey. I do understand being amazed by God’s blessings. I do understand wanting my life to matter for eternity. I do understand the daily ups and downs of life and finding hilarity in the mundane.
She’s an amazing woman. And a fabulous writer. She puts words together in a way that most of us can only dream of. She can take the simplest, most ordinary thing and turn it into an entire side-splitting post. She makes me laugh. Out loud. With snorts. And sometimes cry. And then laugh some more.
Thank you, Melanie, for brightening my life–way up here in Ohio! Can’t wait to meet you and Girly-Girl at the Zoo (my first time in Texas!) in the spring!
p.s. If you left a comment at Big Mama’s and want an extra shot to win the book of your choice, leave a comment, and you’re in! (just tell me which book strikes your fancy–they’re listed on the sidebar on the right) And you have my personal guarantee that your odds of winning will be better here than over at Big’s.
Have an awesome day, friends!

fun to “meet” big mama.
im not planning on “expecting” any time soon, but i love to have your books available to share with friends and of course, i just want to read your new book since i enjoy your writing!
thanks for another fun contest!
diapers!!!
Your book Expecting really calls to me. I am currently expecting my first baby (a little girl!) and would love to read your book.
found you via BigMama – look forward to reading your books!!!
I just found your site this week from Amanda at Baby Bangs. I read the sample chapter from Is That All He Thinks About just last night. It was very good and addresses a really big problem for . That would probably be what I would choose. I really enjoyed finding your blog and will definately be back!
I love the new blog! I would love to give my friend “From Blushing Bride to Wedded Wife.”
So…heres my story…
My sister just got married and she read the blushing bride book while she was doing her premarital counseling stuff. I know she really enjoyed it. When I heard that you had a new book, “Expecting”, i really wanted to get it for her but i really cant come up with the money…so with that “expecting” is definitely my choice
hahaha…you crack me up!
Expecting would be my choice.
Would love Expecting! Expecting first baby in September and would love a prayer guide!
“Expecting” would be a perfect little seed to help my sister believe for her first child. She’ll love it.
I would love to read Expecting!!! I loved Changing Your World One Diaper at a Time! It was so fun I raced thru it!
Is That All He Thinks About…
Sounds like something I would like to read, and should have read 12 years ago.
Pick me! Pick me!
BigMama brought me here. I just started reading her blogs last year and she is a hoot! “Is That All He Thinks About” would be the perfet read for me.
Came here from BigMama’s too. I’d love a chance at “Is That All He Thinks About?” Thanks!
I was pointed here by BigMama and would love to enter the drawing for “From Blushing Bride to Wedded Wife.” Thanks so much!
Hi there, What a pleasure to meet you through BigMama. Your books sound wonderful. I’ll put my name in the hat for “Is That All He Thinks About?” Thanks for the opportunity.
Love your blog and would adore Is that All He Thinks About?…. Your other books would have been such a blessing when my kiddos were itty-bitty but I think now, ummm, we need the other one.
I would like to read Is that all He Thinks About as well as Changing One Diaper at a Time…that reminds of Steven Curtis Chapman’s song…Changing the World, One Little Heartbeat at a Time
I am in my 20th week & really enjoying Expecting. I can’t wait to purchase this for friends/family that are expecting!!! I wish I would have had this for my other 2 pregnancies (as well as for all of this one)
I think I need Is that All he Thinks About. It sounds like it could be helpful and with three little ones, I need some encouragement in that area! Thanks!
i’m all about ‘changing your world one diaper at a time’…i have a 2.5 year old and another on the way! thanks marla! all your books sound great!
