what do YOU want?

Feeling a little worn and weary at the moment–in a good way though. Because our taxes are DONE! Well, on our end anyway. I did them by myself for years, but then when we both became self-employed, and we started drowning in receipts… and shipping books all over the place… and figuring out home office and health expenses … Well, let me just give a little shout-out to Accountant Fred in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Bless you, friend, for making neat little columns and whatnot out of my mess.

Well, shoot. My plan was that I was going to let YOU all write this post, and I’m already at 100 words.

I just went back to my first post on my new blog and re-read all your comments where you introduced yourselves and told me what you’d do with $50 and stuff. Click here for a flashback, if you’d like. Sometimes I really wish I could just get all of you in a room and see you face-to-face and match you with the bits and pieces I know/remember about you. And give you hugs and stuff. Sigh. Now, hold that thought.

Several of you have chatted with me about give-aways. You’re super creative and talented, and you’re wondering if I’d ever want to highlight some of your stuff on my blog in the form of a comment-for-a-chance-to-win-this-awesome-thing sort of thing. I sure would.

So, in lieu of me running my mouth for 800+ words, I’m going to let you do some talking/typing, if you’re so inclined. Please answer any/all of the following questions:

1.In 50 words or less, how are we connected? Or tell me a little bit about yourself. How would you introduce yourself if we were all in a big room together?

2. If you could win anything in the world on someone’s blog, what would it be? (sky’s the limit)

3. If you have something you’d like to give away on my blog, what is it? (add a link if you’d like)

4. If you live in OK or TX and want to meet us at a zoo, which one? (Tulsa, OKC, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Tyler, Waco, Houston, San Antonio, and now possibly Memphis on the way home)

5. If I gave you $5, how would you spend it?

Nina and I will be spending the day with my mom and grandma. Looking forward to catching up with you when we get home! Have a wild and wanton Wednesday! (totally kidding on the wanton)

    1. We’ve not met in real life, although that would be lovely. I just follow your blog. HOWEVER, if I met you’d I’d tell you that last night I dreamt that you came to speak at my church. I was so excited. But when I got there, they made me go catch mice so no one would see them and I missed the entire thing! Isn’t that crazy? πŸ™‚

    GIRL.

I have had this post open all day (well, technically yesterday now – it’s 12:30 am. EEEEK) so I could comment. Where does the day go?

Okay, we connected on Twitter – God’s providential Hand, I assure you.

Would it be so totally selfish to want to win a Mac Book on someone’s giveaway? I never win anything, but I daydream a lot. A laptop/notebook of any kind would be rockin’ awesome actually.

I cannot WAIT to meet you and Gabe and your girls and host you in our little hacienda. Hurry, April!! (but give me time to spring clean, first. hee)

  5. Conny

I ordered your book after I didn’t win it on someone’s blog….I think. Yeah, that’s my story. Anyway, you signed the book – and I was just tickled about that – so I might have emailed you a “thank you” and then found out you had a blog….so here I am. πŸ™‚

  8. Stephanie

    1. If we were in a room together, I’d say “Hey Marla! It’s me, Stephanie – your sister.”
    2. I’m going to have to go with Kelly’s answer – a million dollars. Enough to get us out of debt and give a big chunk to everyone in my and Daniel’s immediate family, but not a billion dollars (I think that much money would change me, and I don’t want that). You can tell I’ve thought this through before. πŸ™‚
    3. Hmm…maybe a pair of earrings?
    4. I think Texas is a short 25 hour drive from Columbia. That counts, right?
    5. Either a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks or a cute notebook from Target.

  9. Denise

    1. We know each other through our hubbies. And church!
    2. Either a house or a spa day.
    3. Free advice?

I am a scrapbooker….and have tons of stuff that i have been trying to decide how to get rid of…maybe over the internet would be best…that or donating it to a school.

We live close enough that we could prob. meet at the Columbus Zoo…which we would like to take our son to this summer.

And if you gave me $5…I would prob go to Cold Stone Creamery….or spend it on the baby. Depending on what my cravings were like at the time i got the $.

    I LOVED….this Blog. Way to go Marla…:)

Right now, I totally want to win a car. The two babies are a little squished in my Toyota Echo but we don’t quite have the money for a bigger vehicle yet.

$5? Probably some kind of food. πŸ™‚ I am SO hungry all the time now and I can’t seem to eat often enough! So maybe a Schlotsky’s sandwich…that sounds REALLY good right now. πŸ™‚

  16. Elizabeth

If I introduced myself in a group I’d mention that I just celebrated my 21st wedding anniversary, have 2 teenage daughters, one of which is graduating high school this year — but I can’t possibly be THAT old! I’ve been reading your blog for several months now. I found you through another blog, although I can’t recall which one at the moment. The fact that you love the Lord and you’re funny and truthful, keeps bringing me back each day.

If I could win something on someone’s blog….hmmm, lets see…I love anything personalized, especially jewelry and monogrammed things. But I also love to read! πŸ™‚

I love zoos, but unfortunately don’t live close enough to any to visit you.

    3. Unfortunately, I can’t think of anything to share

    4. I’m in the Chicago suburbs. I would offer you and Gabe a place to stay for your upcoming speaking engagement, but its four of us living in a small condo, pretty tight. However, I do have guest passes to the Brookfield zoo if you ever need those.

    3. I would love to share Christian books that are taking up my bookshelf because I’ve already read them and don’t want to just donate them to the thrift store.

    3. Live here in Columbus so TX and OK are out for me!

    4. I would spend $5.00 towards the purchase of PeiWei to share with my sweet friend.

    Hugs to you on Wednesday!

  28. Valerie

    1. I found your blog via Terri, and decided I wanted to read your books….you physically met me at Target in my frenzied “new people bashful state”.

    2. Gonna sound really stupid but I’d love to win either a baby (don’t think anyone would give that away on a blog though), or money for treatment so I can have my own….

    3. Unfortunately I don’t have any talents that I openly share with everyone (I write poems)…. so nothing to give away until if/when I breed a cat…then I could give a persian kitten away!!???? Local deliveries only please…LOL.

    4. I’d love to go with you, but it’s too late for me to get vacation time πŸ™ Now anytime you’d like to go to the Columbus Zoo let me know… I’m off Mon,Wed,Fri, and Sat now πŸ˜‰

    5. Probably some random wonderfulness found at Target, or a blue slushy with the remainder going into the piggy bank.
