we’re havin’ us a barn-raisin’

EDIT #2 (12:16 a.m.) Phew. It’s all good. I’m primed and ready to talk about s-e-x tomorrow morn. Watch Jamie call me on the road to tell me I’m speaking on mommy-ness.

EDIT: (11:00p.m) OH NO! OH NO! So, I’m looking through old e-mails for Jamie’s cell phone # in case I need it on the road tomorrow. Find an e-mail from her sister (in charge of MOPS) that says, “So looking forward to you coming to speak. Our theme is the bedroom. We want you to talk about wives and hubbies. We LOVED having you talk about sex last time. You can do that again. “

Um, except that JAMIE told me I could talk on MOTHERHOOD since I spoke on sex last time and only have ONE SEX SPEECH. I just spent a bunch of time getting together a thing on Non-Denominational Motherhood. Jamie is in bed. I have to get up at 5:30.

I’m going to go pray.

Livi and Ava spent most of the day painting a barn. Gabe’s Grandma Marilyn got Livi a huge barn (three feet long, two feet high) for Christmas four or five years ago. It’s made of unfinished wood, and we’ve always meant to paint it red. Or red, green, pink, blue, brown, cream, and purple. The girls have made a masterpiece out of it. It’s…cute. (And they’re covered in paint.)

We had fun plans for the weekend. Go to Saturday night church. Head up to Lima to Gabe’s parents on Sunday. Spend the day there–and the night. Then I’d be 25 minutes away from my 9:00 a.m. speaking engagement in Bluffton Monday morning instead of 2 hours. I’d go speak at MOPS, then Jamie and her boys and I would go back to Gabe’s folks for lunch and chatting.

Well…Gabe’s dad has been sick with the flu for over a week (poor guy!). Then Nina came down with a runny nose Friday morning and a high fever Friday evening. The fever has come and gone since then. I was up with her a lot Friday night, not as much last night. Hopefully none tonight. She seems okay, just kind of needy. And wants me to put together 100-piece puzzles all day long while she watches and claps and hands me pieces. I still haven’t figured out how to observe the Sabbath with 3 smallish children.

Still working on getting your books mailed. Gabe is having fun getting to know the postal workers. It costs $2.13 to send 1 book (media mail), $2.47 to send 2, and $2.47 to send 3. Hmmm…weird.

Still working on those e-mail addresses too, so the e-mail blast is a few days away.

I’m really excited for you guys to get your books. I’ve probably already said that. I’ll be gone all day tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll hear (read) a lot of “I got the book!” when I get home tomorrow evening.

So, if you would, please pray for me as I leave my house before 7 a.m., all groggy and stuff and drive 2 hours, speak to Jamie’s fab MOPS group, eat lunch with her, and drive home. And pray for Gabe who gets to do Mom stuff all day, including tend to a feverish kiddo (hopefully she’ll wake up healed).

The rest of the thrilling accounts of my life will have to wait until Tuesday. Have a great week!

Hello!  I hope your day has gone well this morning.  If I had a car I’d have come over to hear you!!  I’m only 15 min. away.  I hope you can steer clear of Rock…no more bad flu at your house!!  I can’t wait to hear how it went!  Jen

Praying too!  Maybe you can talk about Sex first and then Mommyhood…kinda goes hand in hand.

BTW, I read half the book and am LOVING it!  I would have finished, but I’m treating it like the last chocolate in the box…you kinda need to save it for when you’re alone, relaxed, and don’t have anyone hanging around asking, “Can I have some?”  So I will happily wait until I have uninterrupted Marla and me time to read.  (Ohhh, that just sounded soooo much like another book title out there.  But you are nothing like Marlee.  Except maybe in your energy level).

The charge for sending stuff is just weird…I would have never thought that sending two bags of dry soup mix would cost over $8 BUT it was well worth the investment!

I am sure that you are going to be getting alot of excited messages after people read the book too!

So you just saved me from having to post, since our weekends were identical- minus the barn painting 🙂 We’re feverish here too! And up a lot. If you find yourself awake at 3 AM, feel free to give us a call 🙂 I’ll be praying for your trip and your febrile girl!

Got the book! So excited about it! I’ve skimmed the whole thing once *looks sheepish* looking for my name. Even in skimming, I was sucked into reading long passages at a time. I am planning on going upstairs shortly and begin a savoring read of it. I’m so proud of you! I can’t wait to hear your testimonies of how God works through this book. I literally have goose bumps right now just thinking about it!

On a less important note, I am glad someone else’s child takes great joy in watching her mother assemble puzzles. Josie loves that, too. She’s getting to be a pretty good help, and if I play dumb, she puts the pieces in correctly. However, she’s perfectly content to watch me do it. Oy.

Prayed just now for family’s health and your speaking engagement. Love you!
