this and that

Happy Monday, all! If you didn’t see the video below, Jim was the winner of Give-Away #4. Congrats, Jim! I had to laugh, because guys rarely comment on my blog. What are the chances of him winning? And as many of you have pointed out, how UNFAIR that YOU didn’t win. AGAIN. I’m not sure you realize that there are about 50+ other people besides you who have entered one of my give-aways and also NOT won. Oh, well. There’s no convincing you.

Who in the world is Jim? you ask. We went to Cedarville together back in the day. He was one of the guys I said I hung out with because girls were kind of…annoying and petty. He’s married to Carrie and has 2 adorable little girls. We met up with them last fall and all became fast friends.

Christian, Jamie, Eden, and Erik came to spend the day with us Friday. We had all sorts of fun. All but Nina played out in the snow. They wrestled. The boys made my girls the sweetest personalized necklaces. We had Christian’s chicken salad for lunch and pizza for supper. Gabe and Christian took a loooooong trip to the Apple store. 🙂 Lots of chatting and laughs. What a wonderful family!

Before they got there, I was making chocolate chip cookies, tried to slide the cookie sheet in w/o opening the oven door all the way (long story), and the first three balls of dough fell into the oven. So, I just let them bake down there, replace the 3 missing balls, and slide the cookie sheet in anyway. Got distracted, burnt the rest too. Turned the oven off, decided to try again after lunch. I’ll just clean it up when the oven cools.

OR I’ll forget all about it and pre-heat the oven with the 3 black cookies still sitting in there. They caught on fire! And our whole house filled with smoke. It was lovely. We did manage to get a couple dozen yummy cookies out of the deal.

Birthday parties for Reese and Nina on Saturday. Janelle made Nina a Shrek cake, and she was beyond thrilled. She got 2 Diego DVDs (her latest obsession) and a “Click” the camera, new cool black shoes, and race car track. I had fun with my nieces and nephew. Love them!

I cut seven inches off Ava’s hair. She is beside herself with glee. I miss her long hair, but it’s still cute. Pics soon. Maybe. Angie and Morgan also got their hair cut–so cute. Lots of inches. Angie is giving hers to Locks of Love.

I’ve been asked a few times why I don’t drink. I don’t have a problem with people who do–not one little bit. But here’s one good reason why I choose to stay dry. Nina, who usually goes down for a nap smiling, began to shriek and scream awhile ago. Long and loud. I was tired, ready for a break, not in the mood. I came downstairs, and all I wanted to do was grab a can of Coke, Mountain Dew, anything, and just guzzle the whole thing. And then another one. And then another one. (I ended up only drinking half a can, but still. You can see how this could be a problem if I had alcohol in my fridge.)

Jess, Bethany, Mom, are we still on for Saturday? Do we have any plans? Are you wanting me to make some? 🙂

I got more stuff but not more time. Tomorrow perhaps? Happy, happy day! It’s WARM!

I believe you burnt some rice krispie snacks the other day too – there is a pattern. I’d still eat em!

Of course I wanna meet up in England in the summer – I would love it and I love you!

It’s been great getting to know you.  I can now understand why the “good gals” made such an impression on Jim while in college.  I’m glad he has had such good friends in life.

Sad cookie story. I preheated the broiler for grilled cheese sandwiches yesterday and smoke rolled out of the oven. Time to clean it. We’ve had the stove for7-8 years…never cleaned the oven yet…………..

Stop trying to absolve yourself of guilt over playing favorites on giveaways……we ain’t buyin’ it.

By the way…sure is nice to hear you sound WELL again.

Saturday is still a go! I was kind of hoping that you would have some brilliant plan up your sleeve as for what to eat, do, etc. Do you? Or should I try to come up with something?? Would you like me to provide the craft?

I can’t wait to see what Ava’s hair looks like!

oh man, i can SOOO relate to that cookie story.
it has happened one time too many.
it kind of makes my sad.
when i get around to having kids, they will never know the joy of freshly baked cookies.

I can’t wait to see Ava’s hair. My girls from time to time ask for a haircut, and I just can’t do it. I had two friends with LONG hair when I was in elemenatry school. I was so jealous. So now mine have to keep their hair long for a while. That’s so stupid. But that’s the way it goes.
