ready for spring

Everyone I see seems to have some sort of cough/cold/runny nose thing going on. Mine started out as achiness and a sore throat. Now I have a headache that won’t go away and some sort of sinus infection. Poor Nina has it pretty bad, and Livi and Ava can’t quit hacking.

The other day…
Me: Ava, what is that on your arm?
Ava: I accidentally wrote on myself with a pen.
Me: You accidentally drew a picture of a girl with curly hair and a dress on your arm?
Ava: (Grins impishly.)

Five minutes ago:
Me: (as Livi walks in the door after getting off the bus) Hey, were you in a bad mood earlier?
Livi: What do you mean?
Me: Sophie was trying to talk to you before the bus came, and you weren’t acting very nice.
Livi: Well, she always cares about me, and I’m tired of that!

Ha! Gabe would say she sounds like her mother. 🙂 After talking it over a bit, we (Livi and I) came to the conclusion that Sophie means well but can be a bit overbearing at times, and Livi just wasn’t in the mood to be pestered. Or something. She will try harder to act nice even when she’s not in the mood.

I’m thankful today. For my hubby and kids. For my home. For work I can do from home. For the book of Daniel and Beth Moore’s Bible study. For adorable hand-me-downs for Livi and Ava from my neighbor across the street. For a day of rest yesterday. For climbing out of debt. For the promise of seeing lots of beloved family members in a few weeks. For this brief time we have to glorify Christ on this earth.

I’ve heard excellent things about the Beth Moore studies.  I’ve been meaning to try one out but haven’t figured out where to start yet…any suggestions?

The cold/flu stuff is going around here too…prayers for you (and all!) to feel better. 🙂

We love OCC. This was the first year I let the kids help with the boxes (I was worried they wouldn’t get it last year, but they probably would have). Anyway, the twins did an awesome job packing the boxes. They were so neat and careful. Susannah even told me, without prompting, that these were for kids who were “less fortunate” than she was. I don’t know where she learned that word, but she even explained it meant they didn’t have as many toys and stuff as she did and these gifts would help them know about Christmas and God. Wow. I think she gets it!

I’m ready for spring too!  I love your stories about your girls, your family.  They are so much fun aren’t they?  I wish now I had written down some of the funny stories with my kids.  You do forget (at least I do!)  When they say enjoy them they grow up so fast, they really do.  Mine are 18, 20 and 22 now and it seems like yesterday they were your kids ages!

Re: your title. . . I was thinking a few days ago how I’ve been in denial/mourning over cold weather. (How I wish we had LOTS of maples in our treelines instead of those depressing brown leaves.) I’m ready for May!
I’ve been taking magnesium w/ zinc this year every time I feel a cold coming on. That seems to have made a significant difference compared to the two-week colds I was getting every 6-8 weeks when I was taking zinc alone. DH just intro’d me to Airborne and that seems to work pretty well, too. But we’ll see how it stands up throughout the winter. Hope you’re feeling better soon; sinus infections are NO FUN.

Ya Marla. I was VERY impressed by how many people you know in your neighborhood with you JUST having moved in June!

Livi is SO cute! All your girls are. Erik goes around chanting “Nina, Nina, Nina” all the time now! 🙂

OK, you getting hand me downs from your neighbors must mean you are beating me at getting out and meeting your neighbors. You moved the weekend after I did.  I’m ashamed of how many of my neighbors I don’t know.  But (and these are excuses) we dont’ really live in a subdivision type neighborhood and they are all older people without young kids.

Janelle is cleaning her windows for family time.  Wow, my poor guests are lucky to get the toilet cleaned! 🙂

How cute “you accidently drew a picture of a girl with curly hair and a dress on”  LOL.  Just like my little cheeky chica 😉

    Let’s catch up soon.
