my mom (by: olivia taviano)

My Mom is a good role model. When I get off the bus I run home and give my Mom a big hug. After I get a snack I go downstairs and eat it because my Mom doesn’t like to hear me chew. My Mom is an author. She has written 4 or 5 books. When she was little she wrote some poems. She showed me her poems, and they were really good. They were stapled on a few pieces of paper. That wasn’t all her poems. She wrote those poems when she was 8 or 9 years old.

My Mom is a good role model to me because she is a hard worker, she’s kind to people, she comforts me when I’m sad, and she helps me when I’m sick. I don’t want to be an author when I grow up but rather than that I want to be just like her. I love her and my whole family a lot but this time I picked her to write about. I love my Mom a lot!

The third sentence is my favorite.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this was an essay for school that she brought home last week. I didn’t make her write it for the blog. πŸ™‚

And speaking of those 4 or 5 books I’ve written, 2 of them are out of print, and I have boxes of them in my closet. And since I wore myself plumb out making Valentines and Scrabble magnets yesterday, today’s Cambodia Trip Fundraiser is going to involve something I’ve already “made.”

Today only, you can buy 1 copy of From Blushing Bride to Wedded Wife + 1 copy of Changing Your World One Diaper at a Time for $6.00 (total including shipping–U.S. addresses only). I’ll sign ’em and everything (okay, not really sure what “everything” would entail). All proceeds to the Cambodia Fund.

EDIT (11:08am): ACK! Forgive me!! I had the Paypal link totally wrong and was confusing everyone! Just click on the word “Paypal” below, and type in $6 as your donation, and I’ll send you 2 books!! SORRY!!

You can pay via Paypal or e-mail me if you want to pay by check. And if you want them signed to someone(s) special, let me know.

Have a great day, and please, if you’re going to have a bowl of Doritos, eat them downstairs. Thanks.

HAPPY, HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY TO MY BEAUTIFUL NIECE, MIA NOELLE! Aunt Marla loves and misses you!!

I got a good hearing aid a couple of years ago. Suddenly, I could hear people chew if they were eating within, oh, ten feet of me. I didn’t know whether to be happy about my newfound hearing ability, or grossed out by the icky sound of mastication. (I was both)

    Great essay, Livi!

Beautiful writing, Livi! You have your mommy’s talent. And you’re right-she is a great role model to lots of people!

What DO you want to be when you grow up?

Please forgive my ignorance, but I cannot figure out to get both of those books into my paypal account. Help, please! πŸ™‚

Just click on the word “Paypal” above, and it will take you to a special “Donations” page. Then you just “click to donate,” type in $6 as the amount, and I’ll know what it’s for and send you the books. Let me know if that doesn’t work. Thanks, Kristi!
