my blog posts are new every morning…

except when they’re not. But I have a couple things to say this morning.

First of all, the Olympics are killing me. In my normal life, I don’t watch TV. I think it’s a waste of time. Don’t worry. I’m not condemning you if you watch a lot of TV. I spend a lot of time on the internet, and that’s an equal (maybe worse) waste of time.

I’ve been watching A LOT of Olympic coverage, mostly late at night. It’s fun, but I can’t drag myself out of bed in the morning. And I get really irritated if someone (or 3 someones) wakes me up in the middle of the night. Last night was bluh. And our issues were sleep mask-related. Gail, inspired by your children, mine each spent $1 of their allowance on sleep masks at Target. They’ve requested that I send you a picture. Soon!

A little convo with smallest one just now…
Nina: Mommy! I need piece of chocket!
Me: Oh, you do? And where do you think I’m going to get a piece of chocolate?
Nina: In my mouth!

And just seconds ago…
Nina: Mommy! I wanna play Yahtzee! My turn play Yahtzee! Livi! Ava! Wanna play Yahtzee us?!

Oh, I could just eat her.

Does anyone know what happens scientifically in your body when you swallow a lot of chewing gum? Nina’s a gum-lover, but she can only manage to chew it for 3 minutes or so before it’s all over. Livi and Ava used to ask for “g-u-m” so Nina wouldn’t know what they were saying. Well, it took Nina all of 2 days to start asking me for “g-u-m” herself, which has now trans-morphed into her own invented word.

Just seconds ago…
Nina: Mommy! I have piece jew-ay-gum?

Hey! Do any of you fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child? If you do, run to the nearest Target, Wal-Mart, Office Max and buy a bunch of their cheap-o school supplies! At Target, you can get crayons for 17 cents or less, 10-packs of markers for 62 cents. Some places even sell stuff for a penny or a nickel. All this stuff will triple or quadruple (or more) in price after the Back to School sales are over. You can get so much stuff for these precious kids–and for just pennies! We used some of our garage sale profits and also got some Red Dot stuff at the Target Dollar Spot for 50% off. (soap/erasers/mirrors/toys)

Gotta bolt! Three loud children + husband trying to get work done = time for intervention/diversion in the form of a “quiet” game of Yahtzee.

Have a wonderful day!!

cannot stand it for one more chewing second and i must get rid of it.  So, if i can dispose of it properly, i just swallow.  and i’m the runner up for the picture of health…so…

I am going to check the schedule tomorrow and message you about details of next week. And my life may now be complete knowing a bit more about the poo of Nina and Krista 🙂

your body cannot digest gum much like your body can’t digest corn.  it comes out in your poo.  no biggie.  i still swallow gum.  look at me….i’m the picture of health! tee hee hee. 🙂

The Olympics are killing me too! I absolutely love them and can’t bear to miss something so exciting that only happens once every few years, but I have to get up at 6am every morning and it’s hurting me.

I’ve swallowed gum my entire life. Never affected me that I know of. It’s a myth that it takes seven years to digest. It digests just like everything else you eat. I rarely spit out my gum. And sometimes I’ll eat a whole pack like they’re fruit snacks or something. I’m weird. 🙂 So I’m sure you don’t need to worry about Nina.

Mmm school supplies. They make me feel like a kid again.

Thanks for the tip for OCC. I just sent out an email to my church small group to start looking for the school sales. Guess I’d better take my own advice and get myself to Target! I am quite sleepy from the Olympics too… but when does track and field start? I want some more variety in the events! Nina cracks me up. 🙂

Well, as a part of my evening wind-down ritual, I was reading Xanga and wasting time surfing the net.  My sister told me about this site called stumbleupon.com.  If you are trying not to spend as much time online, DON’T go there.  HOWEVER, it’s a really neat site.  You save your interests, then random websites pull up that you stumble upon.  Nifty.  I found one tonight while wasting time that I thought you might like.  Have you heard of http://www.bookmooch.com?  Seems right up your alley.  I joined so I can get books for my library at school.  If you don’t start stumbling, at least check out bookmooch.  Have a great night!

Olympics causing issues here too- I’m really tired today. I’ve been really bummed that I haven’t been able to watch very much. Saw the opening ceremony and watched last night until it went off. Maybe the Lord’s just been protecting me from too much sleeplessness! 🙂 Hope you enjoyed your Yahtzee!!

Ask Becca about the chewing gum. She’s 30-something and has swallowed it her entire life. Still does.

I am so in love with the Olympics! My boys are sick of them. I just wish they weren’t on so late. My preggo self seems to turn off around 10pm and I miss all the really good stuff!

Our church does Operation Christmas Child I think, or it used to anyways.

    Your kids sound adorable <3

… the Olympics are killing me too. I get annoyed when they show swimming races that don’t even have American’s in them though, 😛
