let’s go fly a kite!

We’re leaving in an hour for Gabe’s parents’ house. I’m excited. We haven’t seen his family (except his mom) since mid-June. We’re grilling chicken for lunch, Lima pizza for supper. Gator rides, walks, mud pies, me with the camera. I love my in-laws.

We went to the Super Cool Pool again last night. Did I blog about that a couple weeks ago? Every other Friday night from 8:30-10:30, it’s just $1/person. Two big water slides, splash-n-play park thingy for kiddos, fountains, all sorts of fun. We met our friends Holly, Duey, Coral and Jonah there and had a blast. Nina is in love with water now–hallelujah! Livi and I did the slides a bunch of times. It was sooooo cold when you weren’t in the heated pool. Duey called to tell us to bring sweatshirts. I had no clue there was a chill in the air.

We watched the rest of the Olympic ceremony when we got home (and recorded the rest of it). Wow. Amazing. And so overwhelming. I get completely overwhelmed when I watch stuff of that magnitude. Gabe told me to relax, that no one is going to ask me to engineer/direct an Olympic opening ceremony in my lifetime. True. But still overwhelming. (how many times can I use that word in a single paragraph?)

Here are some pics of Livi and Ava flying their 74-cent Groovy Girls kite with Gabe earlier this week. There’s a field behind our house (owned by a church) that’s perfect for kite-flying. Love, love, love the sky. Clouds are so cool!

Have a great weekend!!

    3. You can evidently use SOME form of ‘overwhelm’ 3 times in one paragraph.

You’re much more voluble in your praise for the opening ceremonies. I just kept saying. “Wow.”

Hey Marla! I finally remembered to ask Pete at church if he had read your book! He was like, “How do YOU know the author??” haha…anyways, he said that Brandi has, but that he will soon too. 🙂 I told him he should because it’s really good. 🙂
What a small world it really is!

What fun! Great pics. This reminds me of the time my husband took the kids outside to fly kites and I, in a moment of motherly panic, jumped up and went tearing out the door to remind the kids not to fly their kites near the power lines. What did I find? My husband, grinning ear-to-ear with his kite flying RIGHT UNDER the power lines that run low on the hill behind the house. I’m pretty sure I saved his life.

Wow! What a gorgeous day outside! Oh how I miss you guys!

I was LOVING the temperature outside last night. I can’t imagine going swimming in it though. It felt incredible I must say.

Stew and I watched the opening ceremonies, too! (Along with most of America I assume) I was absolutely blown away! There are no words. Except “overwhelmed” 🙂

Did Mom say the 15th is a go for her and dad? Do you have any details yet?
