kiss me! i’m amish-italian!

EDIT: My photographer friend Camille is giving away 2 copies of Diapers over on her blog. I asked her if it would be cheating if I sent some of you her way. She said not at all. So, if you’re not one of the 90 who got a free one , go leave a comment on her site and be entered in the drawing. TWO BOOKS–one for you, one for a friend!

Well, my name is anyway (Yoder-Taviano). But I guess we Mennonite Mafia don’t really get a day. Happy St. Patty’s a bit late!

The interview went really well. Short and sweet. (And TW from KY, FYI, it’s TV in OH, not radio in Peru.) Gabe was on this morning live, and mine was taped and will air tomorrow morning. Grace for Today on TV 44, Lima, at 9:00 a.m.

We had fun with Gabe’s family. Pizza, Blokus, cousins, treasure hunts, chatting, tooth-pulling (Morgan). Since our girlies skipped school, Moogie got to too. And Janelle’s picking up all 3 of ours on Thursday after school and taking them home with her until Saturday afternoon when we’ll go to Lima for Taviano Easter. Gabe and I get a 48-hour belated 10th anniversary celebration. Woohoo! I usually get teary for a smidge when they leave, but oh, I’m so thankful for a break–and a chance to relax and/or catch up on life. Thanks, Rock and Janelle!

I realized this weekend that I already gave away Gabe’s copy of Deception. Oops. So, I’ll be drawing a name tomorrow for my own copy, which will leave me with none. This is okay. I can always get the book from the library when I’m ready to read it again. I don’t keep a lot of fiction books anymore anyway. I only reread the extra-special ones (Anne of Green Gables series, for one). Randy Alcorn’s are good though–and he addresses some very cool real-life issues in them. My favorite is Safely Home–a story about persecuted believers in China. It’s amazing. I try to read it at least once a year to remind me of how blessed I am and to prompt me to pray for the persecuted church. And to step up my walk with Christ and truly surrender to Him.

Let me answer a question while I’m thinking about it. Terri wants to know Do you drink diet or leaded soda? I can’t stomach diet pop (blech!), so definitely “leaded.” I like Coke and Mountain Dew. I drink mostly water though. And ice cold skim milk. Mmmmm…

More answers tomorrow! And thankfully, they’ll take me awhile to get through. (time enough to work on one of them in particular in order to answer in the affirmative. ahem.)

Have a wonderful day!

@mtaviano – Wow.  Thanks for rescuing me. Or when you did answer your page 202 question, I might have absentmindedly answered.

Is it too late to add more questions?  I already asked one…but how old will your girls need to be before you let them read your books (the one in particular…).

@luvmynoah – Great ideas, Jen. Thanks! Candace and I actually e-mail back and forth, and Harvest House is sending her one to review. And my agent is friends with Lisa, so maybe I’ll e-mail her too. When will she be in Lima?

Dr. Pepper is the only way!

I love amish country and reading books about the amish.  I’d love the hear about your families background…how they decided to break from the Amish traditions….etc.

Yeah for T and Rock!  They are the best.  Have a great time with your man!

How about Candice Cameron, Lisa Whelchel..both Christian mommies….Lisa is coming to Lima Community Church next month. maybe I could give one to her??

Enjoy your belated 10th Anniversary celebration! I’m intrigued by your Amish background… do you have any relatives who live their faith in the Amish community?

@ladymiss3739 – I’ll help you.   Read page 202 of Is That All.  and then read marla’s list of 800 questions from her comments a few days ago.  marla’s putting off that question until she can answer it with a YES.  (i think that’s how it all goes. )

Diet.  I actually don’t like the taste of regular anymore at all.

For whatever reason, I can’t follow everyone’s comments to you this morning.  Some I get and some I don’t.  Maybe I just need to wake up more…

OK…I have been thinking about it and I wondered if you would mind if I bought a few books and sent them to some of the personalities at the major networks (Elizabeth at The View, Kelly at Regis and Kelly, etc).  I know that they sometimes get something like this and end up doing a story about it.  Just a thought.

I didn’t even know Alcorn wrote fiction.

Wait a sec! I watched the girls when you went out for your anniversary! so what is this about belated celebrating!?!?

    yeah….about that question….i don’t remember that part….page number anyone???

welcome home!!  and how thrilling about your weekend!  think rock & janelle would come pick my kids up, too?

But I truly, truly, truly hate the idea of you giving away a signed copy of a book. Are you sure you wouldn’t rather keep it? If I win the drawing, I will just re-gift the book to you!

Enjoy the 48 hours! Woo hoo!

I’m so happy you get a little time for the two of you this weekend!  I’m sure your MIL will love having the girls.  I’m a diet coke person too.  Love it!  You and James would get along great.  He loves Coke and Mt Dew too, the leaded kind.  Hayley is a Dr. Pepper girl!
