honda and church

This will be short and sweet. I just wanted to share something Gabe will be doing over at his blog in the next few days. If you’re bored and want to learn more about my family, here’s your big chance. Both my dad and Gabe’s work at Honda, and my brother, Gabe’s brother, and our two brothers-in-law are all youth pastors. Gabe is the Lone Ranger, the oddball web designer. He’s going to blog about these six cool guys and how they’ve impacted his life. Then, when he’s done, he is going to write the book on in-laws, not me!

(If you look at the blog before that one, you can see the 9 places we’ve lived in 9 years of marriage.)

Okay, so my girls have gotten ahold of my cell phone. Ava just yelled from the living room, “Mommy! I’m taking pictures of Nina’s bottom!” The sad part? I have no idea how to use the phone on my camera. Yep, sure enough. There’s Nina’s bottom (fully clothed). We Tavianos really do have a thing for rear ends, I guess. Who knew?

Livi goes to the doctor today at 2pm. I’ll let you know what he says.

Gabe did the DISC system personality test at his men’s group at church last night. Has anyone ever seen the test? He showed me the chart and asked me what I thought he was. Oh my word. It was like someone was describing Gabe exactly. He and I are complete opposites on the chart. Maybe that’s why I find him so darn attractive.

Happy Thursday!

I love those DISC tests. There are several versions. Is it the one that comes up w/ specific words for what you are…not just and IDS? or CSI? We had a big 1/2 day seminar on it. I love that stuff. My word is “whirlwind”. Ha!

When I worked for our Leadership Development Pastor, he had us all also take the Now Discover Your Strengths test by Buckingham. By the book, get a code, take a test online, etc. Gabe might like that.

I’m a C too, Bethany! A pretty strong one. It stands for “conscientious.”

Daniel is an S-I. (S first, I close second) It means he’s loyal, steady, and personable. Sounds pretty accurate to me. 🙂

And the D stands for “dominant.”

Bad TV 93! I had a cherry butt. It was literally the size of a cherry, too. Hahaha.

Hi Marla – I just caught up on your blog… don’t despair too much about the couple looking at your house. Dave’s parents told us not to buy our house when we were 20 years old but we did it anyways. It’s not that we were trying NOT to listen to them but everything about it just felt right. (And it has turned out to be one of the best financial decisions we’ve made yet…)

Also, from your camera phone story…I’m reminded of the time my niece took a pic of her mom breastfeeding her sister and sent it to someone in her mom’s phone book. Classic, huh?

I know my husband and I would be opposites on a test like that.  I’m a list maker.  I love people.  He’s not so much!haha  Loved the fact that your kids are taking pictures of butts with your phone!

I find those tests annoying: how do they know so much about me? And then I spend the next week trying to prove them wrong, that I’m much more well-rounded and harder to pin down than their little questionnaire might suggest. I think I have issues. 😉

I took the DISC test when I was an RA at Grace. I was a total C. I can’t even remember what that stands for, but I remember list-maker was one of the traits of a C. It was so funny to read all the descriptions that fit me perfectly! I felt relieved to know that the way I am is not psycho or weird and that a lot of people are like me (including my co-RA at the time!) I am positive Stew is a D (doesn’t that stand for “dictator”?). What are you guys?

The obsession with rear ends reminds me of Bad TV 93–“The exploration of rear ends. Chelsea Ackerman (me) has a polka dot butt.” Remember?

Oh! The timer for our pizza rolls just rang. Gotta go!

I always knew you were a bunch of perverts!  That’s why we’re friends!

Spring is 13 days away.  And with it….hopes of wellness, open windows to blow away the stench of illnesses past, sunshine to burn off the parasites burrowed on our bodies, and the fever…oh yes that wonderful fever….I call it Summer Fever..I’ve caught it already! 🙂

I popped in on Gabe’s site and discovered that we went to Shawnee where one brother is a pastor and my mother-in-law and brother-in-law often attend Crossroads in Lima, where another brother is a pastor.  Weird.  I think it means we’re destined to be friends. 🙂
