I long for my bed, but alas, we were not meant to be. Jill’s mama and dad will be here at 2ish a.m. to whisk her home. Livi and Ava are begging to stay up until then. Ha! They’re watching Charlotte’s Web in the basement right now and can hardly keep their eyes open.
Today was a good day. The older three slept until 10:00. Ten o’clock! I don’t think Livi and Ava have ever slept that late (Livi tells me they did last summer at the beach). Mercy me, it was strange. Nina was up at 7:00, but I got all sorts of stuff done–even some tax filing/sorting in preparation for next April. (are you kidding me??)
Gabe took the older three geo-caching at 11 a.m. Then we ate lunch, put Nina down for a nap, and I took the other girls to the thrift store. We were there forever and a day. I got some very cool things. Two were specific answers to prayers (that I hadn’t even really prayed yet). Small things but big to me. My current journal will last me about another 2-3 weeks. I found a really pretty, very nice pink one still in the package for 90 cents. And our dresser has been missing a knob for 10 years. Thought this morning, “I should get some new ones sometime.” Found a package of 6 for 60 cents. Perfect.
I also got 5 unopened picture frames (for Christmas gifts) for $3. Four super-cute shirts for the girls. A bag of 12 rubber balls (to use as geo-cache treasures). And a brown/light blue leather purse with an “L” on it for Livi. (Ava got a red/pink “A” one from the thrift store for her b-day.)
We went to Chili’s for supper to celebrate TWO YEARS in our house (July 22). Six more months, and it’s a record for the Gabe Taviano family. (I’m pretty sure we’re going to make it.)
Two geo-caches, then Barnes & Noble, then the Dollar Store. I got 2 books. One is called To See Every Bird On Earth. It’s about a dad and son who travel the globe just to catch a glimpse of every bird there is. I’m going to read it as inspiration for my next (next, next) book–To See Every Zoo on Earth. 🙂
I also bought a gift book by a well-known Christian author that has a format similar to Expectant Prayers. My expectant prayer is that my book never show up on the shelves at the Dollar Tree. 🙂
We came home and the girls had a water balloon fight while I talked to Bethany on the phone. Please pray for her. She’s been in quite a bit of pain lately. My little niece is causing her fits.
So, I’m at the thrift store this afternoon, and the cutest little brown-skinned girl is sitting in the front of a cart. Her mama pushes her by me, and the little cherub points to me and says, “Mama, her got a baby in her belly.” I felt a sharp stab in my gut (uterus?). How humiliating. Her mom hurries up and says, “No, she doesn’t!” The little girl says, “Not her. Her!” She points to a woman down the aisle from me. The woman is tall, slender, and has about 8.5 months of belly sticking straight out in front of her.
Last night we had a family over for pizza and fellowship. Elizabeth is my Bible study small group leader. She and Phil have 4 kiddos–3, 5, 7, and 9. The 9-year-old is the only boy, so I hooked him up with my laptop and Indiana Jones on Lego.com while the 7 girls played together. It was so much fun. It sure beats most Friday nights where the 5 of us sit around and wonder why we don’t find someone to get together with.
They left at 8:30, and we (Jill, Livi, Ava and I) put on our bathing suits and went to an area pool from 9-10:30. Every other Friday night they do this (this was our first time), and admission is $1. The pool is fantabuloso. Absolutely incredible. We had a blast. Thanks to my darling pal Holly for inviting us!
Well, I was going to try to bloggy bloggy until 2 a.m., but I’m pooped. Have a restful day tomorrow, friends!
p.s. Just read back through for a quick proof-read. I sure do use the parentheses prolifically, don’t I? And the girlies are all zonked. I think I may sleep for 2 hours then get up when Jill’s folks arrive. Night!
