what’s that smell?

I keep smelling the delicious aroma of coffee…???…I don’t have a coffeemaker…???…ah, but I did go to Bible study at church this morning and spill a cup of coffee all over myself and the floor. Five hours later, my black mesh pants look clean and feel dry but smell conspicuously of coffee beans. I kind of like it. I think I’ll keep wearing them.

I have never been so keyed up about any Bible study in my life. We’re doing Beth Moore’s “Daniel,” and I am so excited I can barely contain it. My chest feels physically tight–I am so full of anticipation and thrilled-ness. You must understand–the new book idea I’ve hinted at but haven’t explained yet fits PERFECTLY with what I’ll be learning in the next 12 weeks. It has changed my life already, and I am overwhelmed by the enormity of it all.

On that note, lately I have been struck by a sense of urgency. I havea burning desire to focus on things that are truly important, to reach out to others, to share God’s Word…and NOW! I know this seems small, but one thing God has laid on my heart is to give Blushing Bride away to as many people as I can. I have 30 copies here and am ordering 100 more today. I have extra $ from McGraw-Hill, the books cost me a little under $5 apiece, and if they can bring someone to Christ or bring someone closer to Him in their daily walk, what an awesome investment opportunity! SO, if you want one or know someone (even unbelievers have shared that they enjoyed it!) who could benefit from it, e-mail me (mtaviano@taviano.com) a name and address, and I’ll get it in the mail. EDIT: Or you could send me a xanga message. I just figured out 10 minutes ago that those even exist. I’m one smart cookie.

My hope and prayer is that someone who reads Blushing might want to read book #3–a book I pray God will use to bring many to Him before it’s too late.

Quick response to some of your comments/questions:

jamie–in 2005, my grandpa died, gabe’s grandma died, and my mom’s brother died. lots of funerals and explaining. livi and ava were 3 and 4. we talk about heaven ALL the time now–it’s awesome.

ang–see comment below

chip–i looked for a jersey for nina–found one size 2T, but it was Ohio State and 19.99 🙁 –she will have double hand-me-downs when she gets a little bigger. and she already has a VT shirt. 🙂

kristen–you’re right. lots of interesting things seem to happen to me. i would be just fine with about half as many. God must think i’m bored or something. 🙂

bsb–just because I have “a gift” with kids does not mean I feel like helping with awana. and actually, I think my gift is more along the lines of sitting in a comfy chair outside by a beach or something, reading a book and sipping something hot.

jess–just got off the phone with my editor. actually, it’s not weird to talk to a man about the book. we didn’t really discuss specific details.

rach–going to go read your blog now!

Final Note: I’m bummed that I can’t go the big BC event in D. with you girls. No, my fam doesn’t live there. They’re an hour from here and there. Am I making any sense? No? What else is new?

I’ve only done two. The first was Breaking Free. (I was just in it for the fellowship; I didn’t really relate to it.) The monthly one we just finished was A Heart Like His (David). There were SO MANY things in it I wish DH would do it, too, but Bible study is not his thing. This year’s monthly one is The Patriarchs. I don’t know yet if I can do it. I really want to do the ones on Paul and John.

Thanks so much for setting a great example about helping out at church. Your attitude about it is so real, yet so God-like. As believers we are here to share God’s word. Thanks again. I needed to be reminded of that!

I’m so excited about your 3rd book, even though I have no idea what it is about! And I do have someone in mind for you to send a book to. I think that is a great idea about sharing your books! God always gives us the best ideas! 🙂 He’s awesome!

Thanks again for being a friend that I didn’t even know I had!! 🙂 Your incredible!

I do have someone that would be interested in your book……my neighbor Jojo!!!  I have said something a couple times to her about the book. I don’t have my copy or I’d have let her borrow it, I loaned it out and haven’t gotten it back yet……

    Here’s her address:

    Joannah Perez

    4007 Statesman PKWY

    Lima, Ohio 45806

I’m sooo excited for her to get your book!

Beth Moore has one on Daniel now?  Awesome!  I’ve done all her studies so far….she’s my favorite and she’s spoiled me forever.  I can’t enjoy ones that don’t really dig in anymore.  🙂  I take it back….I missed the one on John.  Haven’t done that one yet, but Matt has.  He is willing to admit that he’s done several Beth Moore studies…..yes, even the one called “A Woman’s heart: God’s dwelling place”.  (he was tired of hearing me go on and on about how much I was learning from them)

ahhhhhhhhh I love the smell of coffee – so lush, I am just having one now 🙂

So excited for you about your bible study esp as it will be a help with your new book, it’s so amazing to be so into a bible study and to be so excited about going.  Glad you are loving it 🙂

I had thought about going to a Bible study myself. I am not sure what one it was, one about moving and a book that goes along with that. Maybe it’s the one you went to, or maybe not!

Drew and I hope to come see you soon, we both have some days off next week I think tuesday we both have off…although I don’t remember and am to lazy to walk over to the calendar! LOL!

I would like a book for a friend! I love the book! Can’t wait to share it with my friends! So yes, save me a copy!

    TTYL!!!

I LOVE Beth Moore’s Bible studies! I went through “Believing God” last Fall. I would like to be in one again, but be in one with ladies my age (most of them were like mom’s age). Hey, maybe I’ll start one! But that’s a big responsibility. We’ll see…

I’m so excited about all the ideas whirling around in your mind about your 3rd book! I know I’m gonna love whatever you write because God is making you so excited about it!

I admire your willingness to help out with AWANA. I wouldn’t want to do that either–I love free evenings. But you are setting an example for all of us. Thanks!

I’m so happy for you that you get to be in a Bible study at church! I love how God provides the right resources at just the right time. You wouldn’t have had that opportunity had you guys not moved! The steps of a good (woman) are ordered by the Lord. . .

    😉

didn’t realize that’s what i was volunteering for…but i would be a willing participant…i gotta check the date…matt’s in the woods all the time on saturdays, anyways. 🙂

He would be more than willing to do it, but he’s going to watch motorcycles drive really fast in circles that day, and I’m not sure how the girls would like that.

They don’t mind being imposed on. Trust me. I do it all the time.

  12. mtaviano

oh, i’m not worried about anyone’s credentials (i’d let k-dog watch them if he wanted to). i just hate the thot of imposing on someone like that, just so i can have beauty products for next-to-nothing!

That’s exactly what I’m saying. Or my sisters. Or my mom. One sister is a preschool teacher (age 23) and the other is a mother of one three-month old. Both have tons of experience with children. And there’s my mom who has five kids and four grandchildren and several “adopted grandchildren.” She knows a little about kids, too!
