there is a hell

I know what you’re thinking but no, that is not the title for the in-law book.

We’ve been talking about heaven in Sunday School, and yesterday’s lesson was on hell. If we believe the Bible to be true, hell is much much worse than any torture we could ever imagine. If we believe the Bible to be true, there are people all around us who will spend eternity there if someone doesn’t tell them about Christ. I believe the Bible to be true. With all my heart.

I truly believe God’s plan for me involves writing books that help young women like me honor God with our relationships. But I believe that God’s plan for every believer involves witnessing to those around them. Letting their family, friends and neighbors know that there is only one way to get to heaven, only one way to avoid spending eternity in hell, only one way to have a relationship with the God who created the universe.

Jesus Christ. Believing that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Believing that He died on the cross and took the penalty of my sin. Believing that if I accept the gift of what He did for me on the cross, I am saved from my sin, saved from hell, saved from myself. I can never be good enough to earn my way into heaven. Never. I blew it the day I was born.

God, thank you for allowing your son to be put to death so that I can spend forever with You. Thank you that He bridged that gap, that my sins have been washed away. Thank you for opportunities to share You with others. Take away my fear. If I truly love my neighbors, I will do all I can to save them from Hell.

Happy Freedom Day!

Wow…I just wanted to say thank you! Thank you for your encouragement and for using your gift with words to reach right into my world, give me a great big hug, and make me feel like I have a true friend sitting right beside me who understands and wants to help me be better….all without ever technically meeting you. Thank you, Marla, for your friendship…it is a true, true blessing!

wow thanks for the reminder of the urgency to tell our family and friends about Jesus.  I think death and the reality of what that will be like for an unbeliever can seem so far away from happening that we forget the urgency and that our time here is limited.  Lets encourage one another to continue to share the gospel with the people we meet, esp our family and friends.  I long for them to spend eternity in heaven with me and with our God.
