what works for you?

Girls! I am sooooo excited that so many of you are soooooo excited to pray for the Beautiful Expectant Mamas of Heartline Haiti! God is already answering your prayers. We prayed sweet 15-year-old Enisse through her labor today, and Heather said, “Thanks for praying for our ladies. We felt it today with Enisse. It was miraculous how different the second half of her birth was compared to the first half. Totally the Lord.” Praise you, Jesus!!

My friend Rachelle commented today that, “I love having a seat in the front row of God’s amazing grace!” Isn’t that the truth? And how cool that he squeezes ALL of us into the front row!

I’m going to spend some concentrated time in prayer tonight and tomorrow about a plan of action for our Prayer Team. These are the women who’ve officially said, “I’m in!” (okay, there’s nothing really “official” about it; you just left a comment or sent me an e-mail): Kathi, Erin, Wendy, Mandy, Ruth, Jen, Renee, Addie, Megan, Rhonda, Alina, Debi, Becca, Grace, Beth, Jennifer, Becky, Kerry, Jen, Kim, Dorian, Shelly, Laura, and Ursula, Tana, Claudia, Shannon, Alicia, Nichole, Kandi, Whimzie, Gini, Cheryl, Kathy, and Rachelle.

If you want to join “The Team,” give me a shout in the comments! I’d love for them to know the names of the women who are praying for them.

Here’s what I’d love to hear from you gals:

Do you want to pray for one woman at a time (until she has her baby–or maybe even beyond)? If so, do you want to pick her yourself, or do you want me to “assign” a woman to you?

Do you want to pray on a certain day here on the blog as a group (and then on your own as God leads you)? Which day works best?

Do you want this Prayer Team to be structured or more free?

Do you feel comfortable writing out your prayer in the comments on Prayer Day?

What suggestions do you have for making this streamlined and effective (but also allowing God’s Spirit to move)?

And do you have any cute/brilliant ideas for a name/abbreviation for our “Team?” A team cheer? Mascot? (kidding)

Thank you sooo much, friends! It is the most AMAZING privilege to serve Christ (and these beautiful women) with you!

I would love to pray probably for one girl and it’s fine if you assign the girl. It would be easier for me not to write my prayers but I’m good with whatever you decide! I’m so excited to get started!

      1. Deborah

Fabulousness! I love it! πŸ˜€ I am praying for Dalonne & Djuena!!! <3 I need to read back through here & catch up on all the other details, but I'll pray in the meantime! Thank you SO. VERY. MUCH., dear Marla, for facilitating this! Praise to our wonderful God!!! <3 <3 <3

      2. Deborah

May I please pick up Diutha, as well? We can be the D Crew! Oh, Marla…I can’t tell you how happy I am that God has put all these pieces in place! My heart is spilling over and splashing down my cheeks.

I am so excited but not sure what I think about how to proceed – I guess I’d like to pray for those in labor – maybe Heather can email a group of us when a woman is laboring and in addition we can choose a woman. Those women all looked so lovely in her post… amazing, really. I would love for someone to choose for me… I have children with birthdates in March and September, so that might be a good mental reminder….!!

    1. Marla Taviano

Great idea, Beth! I’ll definitely be updating anytime a woman is in labor, and I’ll see what Heather thinks too.

Why don’t you pray for Andremene (due March 12)? We don’t know of anyone due in September yet, but after Andremene has her baby, I’ll bet we will.

      Thank you!!

  3. Kristie

I would love to pray for a specific girl! I’m expecting my 2nd in August. It would be neat to pray for someone that’s due around the same time. πŸ™‚

  4. Mandy

Marla, please assign me a woman to pray for. I think a weekly reminder would be helpful, but I will play to pray daily. I’m pretty free about which day to connect as a group on here – Wednesdays might be nice. I’m happy to write and post a prayer. I don’t have any cool ideas for a name, but I was thinking of us almost like prayer midwives or doulas.

      1. Marla Taviano

Mandy!! Prayer Doulas! I love it! I’m writing it down. πŸ™‚ And Wednesday IS the day I picked. I’ll explain why soon.

Why don’t you pray for Nocelia? She’s due June 15. Thanks, Mandy!

        1. Mandy

I will be praying for Nocelia. Her due date is my younger son’s birthday so that will make it easy to remember. Prayer Doulas and Wednesdays – cool!

  5. Laura

I’d love to have a gal to pray for. And (I didn’t read through the other posts to see if this has been mentioned) could I send her a care package? If so, is there a list of what they need/want?

  6. Cheryl

I hope I’m not too late to join.
I’d love to pray for someone specific.
And maybe I’m late to the game but is there a website where I can find a picture of whoever you give me?

    1. Marla Taviano

It is absolutely not too late, Cheryl! It will NEVER be too late, because sadly, there are always going to be more women who are pregnant and desperately need our prayers.

Why don’t you pray for Kerline? She’s due March 31, and you can click on the link in my post (the Beautiful Expectant Mamas…) and it will take you to Heather’s post with pics!

      Thanks so much!!

  7. Nichole Mattingly

Please sign me up! I would love to be able to pray specifically for someone, and it’s fine if you pick who that will be.

        1. Rhonda

I just looked up their pictures and I’m sitting here crying. I had to reach out and touch their faces right on my computer. Thank you, Marla, so much.

    1. Marla Taviano

Yes!! And after we get them all assigned, we’re going to double and triple (and quadruple…) up! Thanks, Kandi! You can pray for Venette (due Feb. 28) and then Yolette (due May 16). How does that sound?

  8. Jen Hanson

    – Maybe to make sure all the girls/women get lots of prayer, you should assign ladies for us? I’d hate for anyone to “miss out” on getting a large share of prayer.

      1. Rachelle

I’m on it! I printed her picture to put in my Bible as a reminder. Now to figure out how many weeks along we are! πŸ™‚

  9. Ruth

OHhhh I love this so much. I checked Heather’s blog several times yesterday, checking for updates. So thankful Enisse and her little one are safe and healthy today! πŸ™‚

As far as your questions, I was just planning on you assigning me a lovely lady and I’d pray for her each day, using your Expecting book as a guide. I’m open to other things too, so just keep me informed.

  10. whimzie

I want in! I trust you to assign me someone.

I’m on my way out the door but I’ll think about your other questions as I’m doing my day. In the meantime, I don’t have any strong opinions about any of them so whatever you decide will be brilliant I’m sure.

  11. Laura

I would love to “sign-up” to pray for a specific mama (or a few of them). I am fine with choosing or having them “assigned”. I guess my real concern is that they each get chosen. This is so exciting and such an honor to be a part of. I don’t have any real preferences about the rest, I’m just thrilled to be able to storm the gates with sisters in Christ.

  12. Addie

Do you want to pray for one woman at a time (until she has her baby–or maybe even beyond)? If so, do you want to pick her yourself, or do you want me to β€œassign” a woman to you?
    – yes, one woman at a time please (per person, right?) and it doesnt matter who picks, I do believe God will put us with who He wants us with

Do you want to pray on a certain day here on the blog as a group (and then on your own as God leads you)? Which day works best?
-I think it would be cool to have a prayer day on the blog (and then pray every day on my own)… any week day is fine with me

Do you want this Prayer Team to be structured or more free?
    – doesnt really matter

Do you feel comfortable writing out your prayer in the comments on Prayer Day?
    – not so much… it works for other people, but if I write it down then I find that I do it for other people and not so much for God anymore

What suggestions do you have for making this streamlined and effective (but also allowing God’s Spirit to move)?
    – no idea….

And do you have any cute/brilliant ideas for a name/abbreviation for our β€œTeam?” A team cheer? Mascot? (kidding)
-again, no idea… Ill think on it… πŸ™‚

    1. Marla Taviano

Thanks so much, Addie. You make a very good point about writing out prayers. Maybe we could all just chime in and say, “Prayed for Andremene today!” (That’s your girl, by the way. I just decided. She’s due March 12.) πŸ™‚

  13. ali

Too many questions. You lost me at “Do you want.”

In all seriousness, I love that you’re doing this, Marla. I love love love your heart.

  14. Shannon Wilson

    Marla –
I messaged you when you first announced this and asked to be put on the list. I would like to have a specific woman to pray for, and I’m totally fine with you making the choice. I would be willing to write out a prayer on a specific day, and also continue to pray throughout the week. Thank you!

      1. Shannon Wilson

Thanks, Marla! I’ve already looked at the website and I’m going to print out Franchette’s picture and start praying. I lead a small group of 10 high school freshman girls at my church, and I’m going to copy her picture for them as well so that Franchette can have more people lifting her to the Lord during this time. This is an awesome idea!
I noticed that someone else asked if there was the possibility of sending care packages as their due date approaches. Would this be something we could do?

          1. Shannon Wilson

Am I driving you crazy yet today with all my questions?? πŸ™‚
I was going through the Heartline pictures and along with Franchette, may I also pray for Joanne who is due on April 29? That was my due date last year, but my little guy decided to wait until May 1!

          2. Marla Taviano

Absolutely!! Heather is checking for me for “purple” Joanne’s actual due date. She accidentally put April 29 for both Joannes, but I think that’s just “pink” Joanne’s date. Make sense? πŸ™‚

  15. Alicia

    I’m in too.
    – I’ll do better with praying specifically for one woman, rather then generically for the whole group (which I guess I should do anyway.) I’m fine with either assignment or picking someone.
    – I think we should have a certain day as a group to devote to the ladies. I’m not picky about what day. I’m fine with writing my prayer if that’s what everyone decides.
    – I’ll have to think on a name. As far as a mascot, we should have that dancing baby that circulated around the internet in the late 90s. (j/k)

      1. Alicia

I was going to pray for one of the Joannes that is due on April 29th (It’s not the same girl, right? Cause it looks like two separate girls with the same name and the same due date.) Anyway, you can decide if I get Joanne #1 or Joanne #2 since I’m not sure if you’ve assigned either one to anyone or not. πŸ™‚

        1. Marla Taviano

Heather is checking on that for me. I think purple Joanne has a different due date. Shannon’s going to pray for pink Joanne, so you have purple Joanne and I’ll find out when she’s due. πŸ™‚

  16. Claudia Porpiglia

Yes, I want to pray with this team. I think having a day we all focus on would be great and I am always willing to write out a prayer if that is what we decide to do.

As for a name…I am not very creative so none of these may be good:
Rocking Chair Prayer Warriors (not a reference to age but to babies!)

    Heartline Harmonic Prayer Warriors

  17. Kathi

Give me a name and I will pray. Any day works for me; I’m there. Just let me know so that I can write it down.

Prayer is so awesome! I just keep thinking about Nehemiah building those walls of protection in the midst of such rubble, and discouragement and god saying, ‘do not be discouraged, I am doing the work, I am foiling the plans of the enemy.’

    Again, so excited.

  18. Tana Adams

Oh I want to join the team! Give me someone to pray for. It will be an honor! I’ll try to think of fun names. I thought of the pray team, but it doesn’t sound cute or original. I’ll let the brain storm for a while.
