you guys!!

I can’t stop shaking my head. Really. You guys blow me away.

On Thursday I wrote this post about how we had $1723 in our Cambodia Fund and had set a goal of $2000 for January 31. We needed $277 in 5 days, and I had no doubt in my mind that you all would help us get there.

And you DID. You bought Cambodia Photo Cards and S-C-R-A-B-B-L-E magnets and some of you little stinkers totally overpaid and told me to hush my mouth when I protested.

And when I ran out of the letters L and H, one of you left a baggie of 200 Scrabble tiles on my doorstep. Oh. My. Word.

And then you bought almost $600 worth of totes from 31 Gifts. Seriously?? SERIOUSLY!?! (and a HUGE thank-you to my friend Shalla–PLEASE go to her for all your future Tote Needs!)

With a day to go in January, our new Cambodia Fund total is $2064!! Really, truly, we can’t thank you enough.

But wait. There’s more. I don’t even know if my words are going to do this part of the story justice. Let me give you some background.

I have this friend. I’ve never met her. She’s from a state far, far away from me (a state I love and have been to twice). For the life of me, I can’t remember how we first connected online, but I love, love, love her heart–for God, for people, for missions. We read each other’s blogs, we Facebook chat.

And here’s the really cool thing. Right now she doesn’t live in her big home state. She lives on a small island very, very close to Cambodia. Her husband’s job moved their family there for a couple years, so there they are.

She told me recently that God has really been stirring her heart all up for missions and for helping us get to Cambodia somehow and for hopefully FLYING THERE TO MEET US when we go! Can you even imagine??

She sent me a Facebook message after I blogged about our January goal and said, “Girl, you already met your goal.” And I was all, um, what is she talking about, because I’m pretty sure I just said that we needed $277 more dollars. She told me she’s been praying about helping and that she’d talked to her husband and gotten his blessing and that a check was ALREADY on its way to us before she found out about our goal.

Now, let me just insert a little disclaimer here. If you’ve been following along, you know that we’re not asking people for money to fund our trip. As of right now, we’re not going with any particular church/organization, and we’ve already gone once to Cambodia (Gabe and me) totally funded by generous friends and family. We want our girls to see the value of hard work and sacrifice. We don’t want to have our cake and eat it too. We want to sell our cake to get to Cambodia.

However. When God lays it on someone’s heart to send a little gift or overpay on 25-cent Scrabble letters, we accept their love and generosity.

And when someone on the other side of the world (who we’ve never met) sends us a check for fifteen hundred dollars (yes, you read that right), there’s nothing you can do but literally fall out of your computer chair and lie face-down on the carpet with tears in your eyes, praising Jesus.

WILL YOU PRAISE HIM WITH ME?!?!

If you’re quick at math, you already know that our new Cambodia Fund total is $3564.

That. Is. Amazing.

Our goal for February? 5000 smackeroos. We’re still selling S-C-R-A-B-B-L-E magnets for 25 cents each (+$2 shipping). E-mail me with your order.

We’re still selling Cambodia Photo Cards. $5 for 7 cards. That includes shipping. Click here to pay quickly via paypal or e-mail me if you want to send a check.

I have a couple fun ideas up my sleeve for February. If you have something (handmade or otherwise) that you’d like to donate, let me know!

And I’m just going to stop talking now, because my puny words aren’t doing justice to your kindness and generosity or God’s amazing faithfulness.

THANK YOU. From the bottom of all five of our hearts.

Very exciting and inspiring, Marla! I hated that I couldn’t contribute last month since we’d already gone over our “giving” budget for January, but I hope to contribute a little bit in February! I so want to see this trip become a reality for your family!

I agree what an awesome way to start the week! Isn’t it incredible how we can hardly put into words the thanks and praise for just this one thing He’s led his servants to do in His name? Praise praise praise for sure!

What an awesome report! Whenever I learn of someone trying to raise money for something, like being a missionary to a foreign country, adopting a child, going on a short-term missions trip, or funding a youth group, at first I feel tempted to be overwhelmed by the amount of money. But then I remember that God owns everything and has unlimited wealth at his disposal. He’s just so cool!

God is GOOD!!! God is AWESOME! He is who He is!!! This post just put a smile on my face that will be there all day! I have been stressing about the changes that may be on the horizon in my life and then this comes along…God is using your journey to Cambodia to encourage me to follow Him on the journey He has me on!!!

WOWZA!! Give God some fish and loaves (or Scrabble tiles and totes) and watch what happens! Love it! You should put up a visual meter on your blog to show your fundraisng goal and where you’re at….maybe Scrabble tiles that spell out C-A-M-B-O-D-I-A….either add a letter or fill in with color for every $1500 saved.
