let's do this thing!!

Okay, friends. Here’s the deal. Procrastinating Patsy (me) is getting her GAME ON. It is TIME to get the ball rolling, and I mean ROLLING, for Traffick Jam 2011. Can I get a WOOT WOOT??

There’s a reason I didn’t make the cheerleading squad (besides the fact that I didn’t try out).

If you don’t know what Traffick Jam 2011 is, you can check out their site or read this post I wrote March 7. If you just can’t possibly take the time to click click and read things, here it is in a nutshell: Traffick Jam 2011 is a 10-mile walk being held all over the United States on May 7. The goal? To bring child sex trafficking in Cambodia to a screeching halt. It’s a crazy-huge goal. But with enough money and manpower and GOD-power, these sweet kiddos can be rescued.

I’ll cut to the chase. Gabe and the girls and I are walking, and we each need 10 people to sponsor us $1 per mile ($10). If you do the math, that’s 50 people @ $10 = $500.

I know some of you would love to just write a big ol’ check and we could meet our goal in about 3 minutes. That’s wonderful, and I certainly won’t stop you, but I would love, love, love to have a big ol’ group of people (50) all pitching in a bit ($10–which I know is a LOT for some of you! I get that!) so it feels like a great big ol’ community effort. I love community efforts.

So here’s what I’m asking from you:

1.) If you’d like to sponsor us for our walk, e-mail me and let me know. You can mail me a check (made payable to International Outreach Ministries) or pay via paypal to IOM directly. Just type Traffick Jam 2011 in the “purpose” box.

2.) If you’d like to join us on the walk here in Columbus, e-mail me ASAP. I’ll need your t-shirt size and $15 registration fee by FRIDAY!

3.) If you can’t donate or walk, but you’d be willing to pray for us, for Traffick Jam 2011, for the children being trafficked in Cambodia, or all of the above, you would bless me like crazy.

Thanks so much, friends! If you have any questions, please let me know (AFTER you’ve read this post and looked at the Traffick Jam site, since your questions very well might be answered there).

I’d love to knock this thing out in TWO DAYS if we can. Who’s with me??

Count us in to sponsor one of your family members! Wish we could be there to walk with you! Will put a check in the mail today.

PS –What rehab is Joanne in? We have a friend from ABQ who just got transferred to Craig in Denver. It’s an amazing story….

    Have a wonderful day!

My daughter just got her t-shirt in the mail. She loves it. Thanks for helping shine light on this problem.

My daughter is 18 and getting ready to graduate. She is very passionate about human trafficking. She feels called to work with orphans. Can she link your t-shirts on her blog? You can find it at: bemymagnificentobsession.blogspot.com

    Thanks,
    Tracy

Absolutely, Tracy. Are you talking about the Traffick Jam t-shirts or the She Has a Name t-shirts? I checked out your daughter’s blog–it’s wonderful. I love that she’s so passionate about this! Praise the Lord!

She got a She Has a Name shirt. I see now that we got it from a link and not from you directly (see how tech savvy I am!). What is the protocol on linking things? Do you ask permission, or just say “I like this-here is where you can get yours”?

Thanks for looking at her blog. It really excited her that a real live blogger looked at it!

You only need to ask permission if you’re using someone’s writing (quoting them or using part of their blog post). They’ll be thrilled to have more people linking to the shirts. I just met with the woman who came up with the whole idea, and she’s awesome!!

I’m planning on doing the walk too here in Indiana! I need to get the ball rolling too! Haven’t done a thing yet! What a good cause!

With everything going on with us I don’t feel like I should commit to the walk….however would be more than happy to sponsor.

We’ll have to set up a time soon so I can bring money for that and the book…. my schedule is 100% open at this point. πŸ™‚
