countdown to cambodia!

We leave for Cambodia one month from today! That’s only 30 days! Eek!! I’m super-excited but a twinge overwhelmed. Okay, a lot overwhelmed.

The support-raising is going well. We have close to 70% of what we need for our trip (plane tickets, food, lodging). What a BLESSING!!

Our camera went kaput this weekend though, so that’s a prayer request. Apparently (and I’m completely camera-illiterate, so bear with me here), our camera’s shutter is supposed to last for 50,000 to 70,000 pictures. Thanks to a handful of pictures we took at a handful of zoos and a new website of Gabe’s and my obsession with documenting our family’s life (which I’ve actually done very little of lately! sad!), we’ve taken OVER 70,000 pictures in the last three years.

Yowzers.

Trusting God to provide for this need (which I really do consider a need, not a want, can you imagine going to Cambodia without a camera?!?).

Honesty time. Our pastor warned us at our first Cambodia meeting that we have an enemy that isn’t going to take too kindly to a posse of Christ-followers taking His love to another country, especially one like Cambodia where some dark, dark stuff is going on. I pep-talked myself into being prepared for the opposition and purposed not to let it get to me.

It’s getting to me.

I’ve been battling discouragement and doubt, and I can’t really say it’s been much fun. Oh, I hate to be a Negative Nellie (something I really don’t enjoy in other people and need to work super hard to avoid myself!). I haven’t been wallowing in despair for a month or anything. I just feel like I’m struggling with more than my usual depresso tendencies, and I would loooooove your prayers!

Thank you.

Here’s a List (for all my List-Lusting Pals) of stuff you can do to help:

1. Pray.

2. Buy a Restaurant Super-Saver Book. Click here for info. I have 5 orders now (400% more than my last update!). Today’s the last day!

3. Pack a box for the kiddos in Cambodia. A great idea to do with your own kiddos. I can send you a color brochure of all the orphans–it’s super-cute.

4. Let me know if you’d like me to send you our support letter via e-mail.

5. Stay tuned for another Cambodia Sale (aprons, engraved tile, books, etc.) later this week.

May your Monday be your Most Marvelous Monday yet, friends!! I sure do appreciate you!

I’m fairly certain you need to come over and sit on my couch, hold my baby, and allow my son to destroy your daughter’s sunglasses. It’ll be therapeutic, I promise.

I definitely want to get some stuff for the kiddos…. will have to go shopping once finals are over on Thursday and before little man arrives.

As far as a camera we have a spare which is actually been put up for sale because we’ve upgraded. It is a Canon though so I’m not sure if the lenses would be compatible (not sure how those work). If you guys are interested get in touch and we’ll see what we can work out 😉 If nothing else I’m sure I can put it out on loan at least for the trip…..
