the most pleasantest of surprises

CONGRATULATIONS to Sharon Meekins, winner of the FREE COPY of RESOLUTIONS!

Here’s the deal. I love, love, LOVE-with-a-capital-L-O-V-E to read. Love.

But.

I don’t read a whole lot of fiction. And if I do, it’s not typically Christian fiction. And if it is, I’d rather it not be Christian romance or gah, Christian chick lit.

And probably the last book I’d want to read is a self-published Christian chick lit novel. Especially one that’s over 400 pages long.

Unless.

Unless.

Unless one of my online-turned-real-life friends wrote it. A friend named Jenn who’s been all sorts of supportive and encouraging to me over the past few years. I would read Jenn’s book if it killed me.

And I would figure out a way to spread the word about it (with integrity) (even if it killed me).

resolutionsSo, I told Jenn to go ahead and send me a copy of her book, Resolutions. And she did. And the same day I got it, I decided to go ahead and take a peek. And I read the first page. And the second. And the third and fourth and fifth.

And by day’s end the next day, I had devoured all 426 pages. Literally couldn’t put the thing down.

If it was cheesy and cliche at parts, I barely even noticed. I was just so wrapped up in the story. And while there was romance, it wasn’t all about love. Not the boy-girl kind anyway. And there’s some missions stuff (be still my heart) and some Okinawa stuff (be still again) and some running stuff and some insider wedding planning stuff.

And some FUNNY. Jenn has a great sense of humor, and it really came out in the book.

So, wow. WOW. With good and clean conscience, I can wholeheartedly recommend this book. ESPECIALLY if you love Christian fiction, and EVEN IF YOU DON’T.

Plus, you’ll be supporting and encouraging a pastor’s wife/mama/aspiring writer. And I’ll bet you anything, she’d love to answer any questions you have about self-publishing a novel.

differentstarsfrontAND. GET THIS. The second book in the series, Different Stars, comes out JUNE FIRST. I don’t know how she did that!! And I really, truly, CANNOT WAIT to read it! AND it takes place in NAMIBIA. How cool is that???

Really stinking cool.

And something else is stinking cool.

One lucky winner gets a FREE SIGNED COPY of Resolutions! Just leave a comment on this post! And if you don’t want to wait, go ahead and buy a copy for yourself. It’s available for the Kindle too!

Way to go, Jenn!! Woohooooo!!!

Alright, you have me intrigued. I love fiction. Seriously, give me a good story to get lost in and I am all over it! It’s so cool how God made us storytellers in his image, because he the original storyteller of the greatest story of all time. I’m not much into Christian fiction, but every once in a while I’m pleasantly surprised.

I love fiction, especially if it’s Christian. I’ve had my nose in a book since I learned to read, or so my mom tells me. 😉 I’ve added this book to my wish list for the next time I’m looking for something to read.

This sounds like a great book to read. And, while I will probably buy the Kindle edition, I just LOVE the smell and feel of a new book. 😉

So cool that you know someone with such talent. I’ve made a goal to read more fiction this Spring/Summer. I also rarely read Christian fiction.

I too read very little fiction and never Christian fiction so I’d love to see what I’m missing out on! Thanks Marla!

If you don’t mind mailing to the UK, I would love to read it and then donate it to the library at Ellel Ministries – Pierrepont. Am preparing for a mission trip and love to read a good book before sleeping. Blessings.

Oooo fun! If YOU liked a Christian chick lit novel that it must be good! (Actually, HOW is it that you don’t like chick lit after growing up with Aunt Chris, Bethany, and Stephanie who, if my memory serves me right, all love that genre??? “Love Comes Softly” – hello???) (You don’t have to answer that ;-))

I’m usually not big on reading fiction, but sometimes a girl just needs that escape. That time for me is now!!!

  9. Jenn

You are the best! Love that you could say you loved it without lying, lol! 🙂 It’s also available on Kindle, if anyone else is as in love with their Kindle as I am with mine. 🙂
