your turn to give! {14/40}

Happy Day 14 of our 40 Days of Birthday Gifts!

Today’s post will be short & sweet, because I spent my day doing something sort of fun (editing my ebook & another person’s book) and something really fun (cuddling with this gorgeous 1-month-old so her mama could pack for their big move to the States tomorrow–sniff sniff).

I have a giving opportunity for YOU (and something to give you too, because I just can’t help it).

Last week I blogged about my sister Bethany’s Usborne Book Party (it’s on Facebook tomorrow–October 6 at 8:30pm). YOU’RE INVITED! (comment if you want to come)

elephantShe is generously giving me all the Half-Price Book Awards she earns at her party. What does that mean? Well, it means that, depending on how many books people buy, she gets to buy a certain $ amount at half price. Like $100 worth of books for $50. Or $200 worth for $100. (you get the idea)

And I would LOVE for you to help me buy some books for kiddos in Cambodia!

One of our very favorite ministries (you’ve probably heard me talk about them a million times) is The Hard Places Community. They do soooooo much great work here in Phnom Penh (and in other places around the world), and they’re planning on opening a 2nd center for kids here in Cambodia.

english wordsI would love to bless them with some high-quality, durable, super-educational, fun, colorful books.

I’ve got a list going of books I think would be perfect, and you can see some of them on this post.

I haven’t really figured out a brilliant way for you to buy the books yourself, so I think this is what we’ll do:

1.) you paypal me the money for a book.

2.) I take the $ and order from Bethany’s party using her half-price points.

3.) Bethany’s mom-and-dad-in-law are coming to Cambodia in a couple months, and they will deliver them to us instead of spending a billion dollars to ship them.

bracelet4.) AND every single person who donates $10 or more toward books will get a beautiful multi-colored elephant charm bracelet.

5.) I’m also drawing names of FIVE random party-attenders to win a FREE bracelet as well.

How does that sound? Kind of win win win, right?

And, if you’d like to donate a specific book, just tell me. I made a Wish List here, but you can donate any book!

oppositesAnd, if you’d like more than one bracelet, we can work that out ($20 for 2, $30 for 3).

If you’d like to donate, either leave a comment, and I’ll email you paypal info OR send me a fb message OR send me an email here.

I’ll post a pic of all the books that get donated.

Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks in advance for being awesome!!

See you back here tomorrow with another jewelry give-away (this one is no purchase necessary AND you wear it around your neck…)!

OHMYGOODNESS EXCITING UPDATE! Bethany (not my sister, but the gal hosting the Usborne Party for her) just gave me this AMAZING NEWS:

Up until this February my full time job was as a counselor and a majority of the work I did was trauma work. I have always had a heart for abuse victims/survivors, and have been passionate about raising awareness of the overwhelming human trafficking problem internationally and in our own backyard.

I would love to personally donate to this ministry! I will offer an additional $25 in free books for these Cambodian children for every $100 in party sales! (This will be something extra from me- in addition to all the other hostess rewards you and Bethany will be earning!)

I’m so excited for your party and to be able to bless these children with the best quality books on the market- this is a tangible way we can send them the important message that they are beautiful and have Inherent value and worth and they do deserve good things.

BE STILL MY HEART.
