beautiful kids’ books! {8/40}

book stackWelcome to Day 8 of our 40 Days of Birthday Gifts!

Oh my goodness. I LOVE BOOKS. In my quest to purge all things unnecessary, they are my kryptonite (maybe because they’re so necessary). I love love love love to read. LOVE. L-O-V-E love. Like you don’t even know.

Unless you’re a fellow read-a-holic. (I love you.)

Today’s give-away is a beautiful kids’ book of YOUR CHOICE (up to $20) and (AND!) one of FIVE beautiful, colorful elephant bracelets from Cambodia!

AND I want to invite you to a Facebook Usborne Book Party hosted by my sister, Bethany.

AND I want to give you an opportunity to bless a ministry in Cambodia with a beautiful book.

So, here’s how it’s going to work.bracelet

Tuesday, October 6th, at 8:30pm, Bethany will be hosting an hour-long Usborne Book Party on Facebook. Just leave a comment telling me you want to be invited to the party, and she’ll send you an invite!

(We have about 20 people signed up so far and would love to DOUBLE that number.)

And I’m adding my own incentive to get you to the party. I’ll choose FIVE random party-attenders to win one of these beautiful elephant bracelets from Cambodia.

What does an online book party look like? Basically, you just “meet” on a fb page at the designated time. The party lady & Bethany will be online (and me!), and there will be books for you to look at, you can get questions answered, and you’ll be eligible to win free/discounted stuff based on your participation.

If you can’t be there for the party, sign up to “come” anyway, and you’ll still have 24 hours to order your books.

Your purchase will help my sis get some free books for her kiddos who have recently started homeschooling. Speaking of, let me introduce you to my darling nieces and nephew.

Isabelle will be 7 in November (she and Gabe are birthday buddies) and is the BEST big sister. Jack is 4 and incredibly sweet & hilarious. Lila is 2 and has the most chubbable cheeks and adorable voice. Jubilee is in heaven, and I CAN’T WAIT to see her again. And baby #5 is on the way! Of course, a boy would be nice to even things out, but I do love little girls. So God can just pick whichever he wants.

magic paintingI asked Bethany why she loves Usborne books so much, and she said, “Oh, they’re great because they’re educational, interactive, well-made (many of the books are soft-to-the-touch hardback covers with sturdy pages), and have cute and colorful illustrations.”

Which ones are their favorites?

“My kids and I all love the lift-the-flap books, especially the ‘See Inside’ and ‘Look Inside’ books because each page has so many flaps, making learning fun and interactive.

We have ones on the human body and how our food is made and I want to get the ones about space and our earth and weather and how flowers grow. I home school and there are so many books I can use to supplement our curriculum for science, vocabulary, history, writing, geography.”

jack bookWe skyped Bethany and her kiddos last week, and they each showed us some of their new Usborne books. Isabelle is LOVING her very first story-writing book. (BE STILL MY PROUD AUNT-WRITER HEART.) and her Magic Painting Book. Jack has this really cool wipe clean preschool book. And Lila loves the touch-and-feel books (and her Mama likes the board books she can’t rip!)

Bethany used to make these AMAZING banners (I have 10. My other kryptonite.) to supplement Stewart’s income (and she gave a ton of $ to missions too), but when she’s pregnant (and renovating their new fixer-upper house), there’s not much energy left for that.kiddos reading

So some free books will be a sweet bonus for her family.

AND she’s going to give us any half-off book rewards she earns so we can buy books for kiddos in Cambodia! (If you’re interested in donating $3 or $5 or $10 toward that, let me know! Or if there’s a particular book you’d like to donate, let me know that too, and we’ll work it all out!)

So, leave a comment letting me know you’d like to come to the party (I’m looking forward to hanging out with all of you! It will be 7:30 a.m. for me.), and we’ll announce the winner of the FREE BOOK and the FIVE winners of an ELEPHANT BRACELET the day after (October 7)!

Invite your friends! Invite your sister! Invite your children’s grandmother and arm her with a list of books they want for Christmas!

(If you’ve already accepted Bethany’s invite to the party, make sure you still comment to be entered to win!)

(Here’s a link to Usborne Books so you can see what’s available!) See you soon!!

I want to come to the party!!! Well, Daniel does. 😉
I’ve wanted to buy that magic painting book for a long time, but I didn’t even realize it was an Usborne book.
