kingdom journeys {day 8 of 31}

I just finished this really inspiring book: Kingdom Journeys by Seth Barnes. I loved every single thing about it. Except for one thing. It made me physically ache for Cambodia. Like really, really bad. Like I had to pray, “Jesus, help me calm down. Help me to be content with where you have me at the moment. Help me see how I can serve those serving you in Cambodia from right here.”

Seth Barnes is the founder of Adventures in Missions, a short-term mission organization. And regardless of how you feel about people taking (could-be-expensive) 2-week trips around the globe, Seth has seen over 100,000 people go out into the world (including tons of young folks doing an 11-month missions journey called the World Race), and lives have been changed, changed, changed.

Seth has given his all to bring the kingdom of God here to earth. All parts of the earth.

I think that’s really, really cool.

And today, I’m excited to share with you five special people who have a really cool opportunity to take the gospel to a foreign land.

And this isn’t your normal, run-of-the-mill short-term mission trip. These are five young people who have already given their lives to serve the least of these in their own country: Cambodia. And now they have the amazing opportunity to serve the least of these in India over the Christmas holiday. This will be the first time any of them have ever left the country, and they are so excited to be sent out.

This trip will cost each of them $1500, and like I shared two days ago, the average salary for a staff member at the Boys’ Center is $197/month. Seems like kind of an outrageous goal, eh?

But God is really, really big. And he’s not really limited by someone’s meager income (no matter how many times I forget that in my own life).

I’ve seen him use the internet in some pretty stinking awesome ways. And I vote for letting him use all of us to help these hard-working, Jesus-loving Cambodians share the gospel with some hurting people in India.

If a bunch of us just picked one of the five and gave $5 or $10, we could get them to India in no time. What do you say??

Let me introduce you to my friends.

Borey is the crazy guy playing in the balls up there.

Panha is the cool guy giving Gabe his first moto ride.

Veasna is the handsome dude with my girlies (he has since chopped off his long locks).

(And my good pics of Sopheak and Sineath are on Gabe’s hard drive, so I’ll re-post the staff pic)

Sopheak is the good-looking dude third from the left standing up in the back.

And Sineath is the pretty girl in the grey pants, kneeling in front, third from the left.

All five of them have the hugest, most giving hearts. Like I can’t even tell you.

If you’d like to sponsor one of them, just go to my friend Yvonne’s blog and click the donate button. Yvonne is one of three Americans (all of whom are so awesome) going on the trip as well. When the Paypal page comes up, just leave a note telling her which staff member (Borey, Panha, Veasna, Sopheak, or Sineath) you want to sponsor.

Any questions?? Please leave a comment or e-mail me.

Friends. This is such a blessing to me. Thanks so much for your generous hearts.

So glad God is leading us to give for this cause! This is SO good! But so hard to know which if these precious ones to give toward, my heart is going to explode! I don’t know any of them personally but I know some of their stories and each one has God’s written all over their life.
