hooray for midday connection! {day 10 of 31}

Hello, friends! So excited for today! If you’re reading this before 1:00 pm EST, there’s still time to catch my interview on Moody’s Midday Connection (the 2nd half of the show).

If you’re here because you listened to the program, WELCOME! So happy you’re here!! If you missed it, you can listen to it as a podcast. (see pics from the taping here)

(If you have no desire to listen, that’s okay too. I choose words on a page/screen over video/audio pretty much 100% of the time. I GET IT. Feel free to scroll to the end where I talk about the FREE STUFF I’m giving away.)

If you’re here to get more information on Cambodia and how you can help, GLORY BE, let’s get right at it!!

Here’s a link to some specific needs the Boys’ Center has (and the video is a MUST MUST see).

Here’s a link if you’d like to help some Cambodian friends raise the funds to go on a mission trip to India (so, so cool).

And here’s info on Asia’s Hope, the organization that runs the orphanage we spent a lot of time at (love these kids so much).

And on the side bar over there –>, you can click on “Cambodia” and read all about our trips (July 2010 and Dec 2011-Jan 2012).

If you’re here because you’d like to donate a copy of Expecting to a crisis pregnancy center, BLESS YOU.

It’s $8, and if you have a specific center in mind, let me know. Otherwise, I’ll send it to one of the centers on our waiting list. We’re coming up on 700 copies donated so far. SO THANKFUL!!

You can click here to donate online ($8/book). And if you want to share some ideas for centers who would love some books, PLEASE DO!

Tomorrow I’ll be guest-posting on the Midday Connection Blog, and then I’ll “finish the story” over here on my blog.

And my sweeeet Blessed tee that got so many compliments at the taping? You can buy yours (or an awesome, super-soft hoodie) from my talented friend, Jackie, at DressBlessed.com. Mention you heard about it here, and part of your proceeds will go to Cambodia (!!).

Whew. That’s a lot of info, but now… FREE STUFF!!

1. Every single person who leaves a comment on this post will receive (if you want!) a copy of one of my e-books: The Husband’s Guide to Getting Lucky or Once Upon the Internet. (OUTI is in pdf format, and THGTGL comes w/4 files you can use on any e-reader). I’ll e-mail you your free e-book.

2. Using the fancy-schmancy Rafflecopter apparatus below, you can enter to win a $5 gift card to Starbucks AND a copy of Is That All He Thinks About? OR Expecting. (There will be 1 book + 1 gift card awarded to TWO lucky winners.)

Any questions?? If not, GET WINNING!! And I’ll see you back here tomorrow!

**IMPORTANT NOTE: To be entered in the give-away, you have to click on the rafflecopter buttons (i.e., if you left a comment or shared the post or donated a book). Rafflecopter will then choose the winners from that pool. Confused? Don’t be afraid to ask.

So – it took me a few days to reply to your post. If it’s not too late, I would like a copy of “The Husband’s Guide to getting Lucky”. Thanks

Yes, that’s my email address – my husband’s idea, only used for contact with businesses to keep ads. out of my regular email. I can see why it might appear a little fishy =).

            Thanks for checking.

I found your blog about a year ago and I find I NEED to check in every few days to see how you are and what you are passionate about. God has been working on my heart in a few of the areas you address. I am saving your interview to listen to on my off days when I can get a few uninterrupted moments. I have your book “Is That All He Thinks About”. And I am not rejoicing in your troubles but I take your advice more seriously knowing that you honestly address your own shortcomings. Thank you so much for sharing your life and passions. I am praying for you at this moment, for Gabe’s anxiety, marital stress, homeschooling challenges, and the clarity to step away from the immediate and focus on God and the strength he will supply you with.
I have been debating about getting your “The Husband’s Guide to Getting Lucky” and would love to have a copy. Thank you!

I listened to you today from Birmingham AL and I really appreciated that you shared your story but you are still in the middle of it, waiting for God to bring some things to pass. I find myself in a different but comparable situation as I wait for God’s timing for healing. I’m so glad they had you on today. I have a heart for China – we lived there for a year, so I loved hearing about your passion for Cambodia. Blessings to you.

Thank you Marla for the link to the podcast! Loved the interview, it was nice to put a voice with the words that I read on your blog/FB. I love that you are honest in your pain in order to be real with your friends/followers. Thank you for sharing!

Marla, I was so encouraged by what you said on the show. You are a natural on radio! I did not know that most kids stuck in trafficking are given away by their parents. Tragic. Thanks for both the informative talk, and for sharing a part of your heart! I have all your books!

  5. Melissa

I already have both ^.^ but I think I know someone who could use a Husband’s Guide to Getting Lucky (not my husband one of my other friends) so I’d love to send it to him.

Enjoyed your interview on Midday Connection. I always listen with interest when Columbus,OH is talked about because my youngest son & wife live there, & actually my oldest son also uses their address as his permanent address cause he is a world traveler who for the last 6 years flew airplanes with humanitarian aide & he just got a job with Sky West & so for right now is in California….I especially appreciate when said you have a global heart…I lived in Costa Rica & Nicaragua for 30 month, in the late 1970’s & I worked in rural clinics & then after getting married we lived in Port au Prince, Haiti for a year….Today I’m handicapped, but my husband travels to Haiti & he is working with chicken projects & a block machine to build houses with very unique blocks that fit together similar to legos…. I will watch your blog & pray for God to help get you where your family feels needed….

Enjoyed part of the broadcast today and plan to download the podcast for the rest! I would love a copy of The Husbands Guide to Getting Lucky!

REALLY loved hearing about my favorite country, Cambodia. My husband and I went on a mission trip there in 2007 and absolutely loved it. I believe I left a little piece of my heart there.
Thanks for being on the show and opening our eyes to the needs of the people in Cambodia!

That would be cool! We went because of a couple here at our church live there as missionaries. We spent 10 days there (I wish it had been longer!) and worked with the missionaries as they led a field retreat. We got to visit Phnom Penh and their village they lived in. We also went to Sihanookville. We met some amazing people while we were there along with the awesome missionaries with World Team. That trip changed my life and how I view things. I would LOVE to go back soon. My husband has a chance to go back next Spring with our ministers and another Elder, I believe, so we’ll be praying for that.

You know, I have to say…Midday Connection was not on my to-do list today because my beloved Cardinals are playing a very crucial game today and I was going to listen to it on the radio in my van at lunch. But…God pushed me to change that channel and I am SO glad I did! I look forward to hearing and reading more from you! God bless!

Toddler up in the night = early nap for her = me getting to listen to you uninterrupted – YAY!!!! Soooo fun to HEAR your voice, Marla! I see vlogs in your future…..

      1. Sharon

BTW, would love to hear how/when you taught your girls about s*x. Perhaps your next book will be on this topic???? 🙂

        1. Marla Taviano

It’s amazing how many requests I get for that. And I would, but it’s sooooo different for everyone. I’m thinking of doing a post where everyone gives some ideas, because I don’t know that my way would work for too many people.

    1. Marla Taviano

YES, you crazy girl!! Don’t forget to enter Rafflecopter up there!! (you get 2 points for your blog comment and 10 for donating a book) And if you already have my e-books, you can pick a friend to get one. 🙂

    1. Marla Taviano

Thanks, Tim! Will e-mail it to you later today. Don’t forget to enter via rafflecopter if you want to be eligible for the drawing (click +2 do it) up there by “leave a blog comment.”
